Memaw's Big Hydro Basement Setup

Well I am sure some of you remember me, I use to use this forum when I started growing, haven't been on here in a while...

But anyways since I have had 4 batches from my closet grow in soil and got the experience its time to upgrade! New Local, Hydro, Co2, fans galore, and lots of work....

I did this this layout with Google Sketchup, should be putting it into plan in the next couple months, I'll keep you all updated.

In your first picture it looks like you have mother plants for cloning. In stinkbud's system you will not need this, because you can take cuttings directly from the plants in the veg stage.

What kind of CO2 emitter do you plan on using? btw Nice drawing im going to hafta check out google sketchup

I wanted to have some soil mothers, I know I plan on using stinkbuds system with a little mods to the flower trays as you see. I just don't like the idea of clones of clones of clones of clones. Eventually they are going to turn to crap...

I figured a propane burner Co2 setup because I dont feel like lugging those big ass CO2 tanks, but for actual brand I have no idea.. Anyone know whats good?

Ohh and for Sketchup, they have some submitted models you can add if you goto Menu then 3d models. They have lamps, hoods, ballasts, almost practicly everything to setup a grow room.

hey, that sure is a nice pic of a dream come true, but what you forgot, is the DEA running down the stairs with shotguns. Really man, how do you risk using so much extra electricity, plus the heat signature on the foundation of the place. awesome setup, just looks to risky.
have you checked out those rotating hydro gardens? looks like a really efficient way to grow a lot of herb. Let me know what you think about them.

he dont need to worry about electricity unless hes stealing it or not paying the bill, the electrical company is just like any other buisness...as long as they have theyre money they dont care what you do with the power...heat signitures...it is unconstitutional for them to fly overhead your house without a search warrant it is an invasion of privacy...he can use panda film to block the heat sig.

i think you should make rooms smaller to get the most out of your light, like as in put walls up around your aeroponic units

I had originally planned on using tarp between each unit so that I could cut them off from each other, but I thought about it and why not get them close enough so that I can just walk down the isle but close enough that the light is going to shine on the next table.
So thats the plan for now unless I change my mind.

im saying instead of it being 20 x 20 or w/e it is make it where there is 2 ft all the way around. just enclose it to get the most out of your lights...you need 50 watts sq, say you have 20x20 now thats 400 sq you would need 20,000 watts...if you took it down to more like 10 x 15 thats 150 sq which means only 7500 watts....do you see what im trying to say?

You seem to have very high hopes. I would spend a year getting close with a smaller garden before i jumped into a project that big, but thats just me. I really wanna see you put this all together. good luck

Well that's not true at all....clones are genetic replicas of thee parent and cutting, pruning, etc, will never change a plants dna

That's right....there are plenty of people out there burning thousands of watts.....and IR Block is even better than panda film......they have some images of light signatures with and without the use of it.

Sounds good memaw....roll with it. FYI i started on 8x4 trays with 1kw lights on movers and now have 2kw over each 8x4 tray and there is no comparison.....thats about 60 watts per foot

This is a good point....It hink he will tighten up spacing as mentioned in his previous post

Not everybody that grows is young, financially handicapped or even a part of the working-middle class......for all we know that basement is below a 500k dollar house and memaw is an attorney or retired entrepreneur. He might have mercs in the driveway and a subzero in the kitchen. What a short-sighted comment.

Overgrow them all memaw.....you better back-up that sketch though.....otherwise your just good at google sketch-up and not-so-much on the hydro farming.....can't wait to see it come together.

as far as flower... you have them on tracks but you'd have to move all of them at the same time with a single motor.... or the ventilation setup (as pictured) wouldn't work.

also, you'd never be able to have useable light if they spread was anything like pictured. a 1000w on a track still only effectively covers something like a 6' by 8' area. (guess you could go 5' by 10'... but then you're just changing out less big buds for more small buds).

(EDIT) hmm... from the scale of things... it looks like the flower runs are about 4' by 12'... it could work i guess, but i think i'd stick to no more than a 4' by 8' per 1000w. at that you would already start to see some stretching and the buds would be a bit more 'airy'.

Thanks for the tips guys, I do plan on getting the flower setups closer together. This design was done kinda ruff and its going to be fixed up once I get some more info on the size of some things.
I do plan on making my own aerocloners and the whole setup in flower. I have built some aerocloners in the past and its really not that hard and cheap as shit compaired to those thousand dollar setups.

About the ducting, the pic doesn't show it but I plan on leaving enough slack so that the light movers could move back and forth and have enough ducting to move freely. It will be hung by string from the celing so that its not drooping down and restricting airflow.

Ohh and for the douche that said I should get some grows in first.... You need to read better because I mentioned I grew before and planned on upgrading my setup. Why would you look at a pic then reply to a thread without reading it?

Ohh and Old in the Way thanks for the support, these guys say I can't do it, I'm gonna use too power, whatever... We will see, this weekend I'm off to the hydro store.

DaGambler, I am a little surprised to here you say some of the things posted above.....I know I have seen you post good info before.....you are right about the ventilation plans and you are right about the smaller buds and they will be less dense.....but a 40-50 sq.ft. area as you mentioned is way to big to be serviced with a single lamp even with a mover I could only effectively light a 6x4 area per lamp....a little better than 40 watts per foot. As my first couple harvests matured it became clear that there is a reason you see a light every couple/few feet hanging above those pro-grows you see in high times and other canna-publications.......its because professional looking nugs require a professional grade environment........I am now running 2-1kw lamps per 8x4 tray and the difference is mind blowing. Temps and humidity are of just as critical of course and can lead to drastic reductions in yield.

I'm not a millionaire....but i have a store bought ez clone 120. (in fact when I do a mental tally of it my cloning set-up has about $1500 in it. But as far as investments go you can't argue with two key facts.

1. Everything is relative.
2. Return on investment couldn't be better if you had shorted the market from August-Now. So while i made 30% on my shorts. I made a much better return on my clone set-up......in fact if you had to start from seed you would spend thousands a month to end up with as many seedlings as I have clones.
$1000 is a far cry from a million (1k x 1k=1,000,000) thats alot of ez clone 120s (mine was only 600 usd).

Oh btw, the nay-sayers who use power consumption as an argument for why you can't do it are a little retarded. (no offense to anyone who has to wear oven mits and a hockey helmet).

Do they think all the dank in this great land comes from 1kw closet grows......my meter spins like a top.....who cares......probably why the utility co. is doing well and paying a fat dividend. Friggin tards........when powered up, including dehumidifiers, portable a/c, lights, rails, pumps, fans i pull over 10kw (5.5kw is 5-hid lights and my 8 bulb t5 for clones). Last time LEO visited me was to serve more papers from my ex.....something about how 3k a month isn't enough.....f'n bitch. Anyway my counties finest came and went several times before catching me home as I discovered when talking to the deputy.

My only point in mentioning this is that growers are caught by three or four things.

1.Loose Lips
2.Odors, Noise and Light emitted from the property
3.Stealing Power
4.Fires and Break-ins

The first three are easy enough to deal with if you are a mature and responsible member of the community (both local and grow-communities--still remain anonymous!!)

The last one is all about safe and professional installations of electrical service and some sort of security....dogs, cams, motion activated mobile alerts, etc. There is a ton of great technology out there--take advantage of it.......no point in seeing 20, 30, 40k or more go up in smoke or being compromised by some punk who would be better suited as fertilizer for your vegetable garden. The only thing about the latter is you have to be willing to hand down some country justice if not then big, mean, aggresive dogs may be your best bet. (I only drive home this point because of the scale of your drawing, final decisions on how to protect the perimeter of your grow are up to you---but you must draw a mental line somewhere and know you must at all costs be able to stop intruders at that line--remember the intruder may only face a minor felony where as you might be the whale some young cop can make his career on)
