Hey Guys...

City... whats up with the hydrogen peroxide this early in the season? ... just curious because I never really use it until I'm fighting mold in the fall. What are you using it for?

Greedy... If it's your first time, just have fun with it and don't overthink things too much. I've planted both in the ground and in pots. If you plant in the ground keep in mind that they can get huge and have no mobility. If you plant in large pots they can still get huge but you have more control. Last season I had six in pots and I was able to move them around the yard. In the fall when storms were coming I would use a dolly and bring them into the garage. With all the shit weather we had I was actually able to save them all. I had some mold, but for the most part was able keep it under control by keeping them out of the weather. It was a pain in the balls though.

Nick... If they're planted in soil with good drainage the moisture in the ground shouldn't be the problem, but it's the humidity and the rain that will screw you in the end. I'm just praying for that perfect season when we get bright sunny days all through sept/oct.

Masshole... yea buddy... six time super champs

Man I'm jealous! I have mobility issues that will not allow me to grow outside so I'm indoors till I get better. That being said I will definitely be here watching you guys and learning so that when I am better I can get back outside. Although I do have a four season porch that gets plenty of light. I'm thinking about possibly throwing a few ladies in there to see what happens. There are some trees that block the sunlight just a tiny bit. I could always hang my lights in there to see what happens. I have a beautiful 6×20 raised bed outside that I would love to get into. Hoping I can get better soon so I can put it to use. The springs/summers & falls before last, I had all kinds of vegetables & fruits growing in it. I would love to put it to use again. Being mobility limited sucks. I am recovering and have a lil tent I'm using but it's just not the same as being in the actual garden.

Thanks for the info StealthFader. Your mention of pots and their mobility especially when needed makes sense. Growing inside now in 5gal Home Depot buckets, what kind/size of pots would be needed for outside? Should I be popping seeds now for outside? How early can we move plants outside? We should have a Mass Growers online group somewhere where we could share experiences growing in our environment. Newbies like me are eager to learn from those who have done this and are willing to share.

I've been using the large plastic buckets with the rope handles... I had one laying around that we would store the kids toys in so I drilled holes in the bottom for drainage and it worked great. I ended up buying a bunch more, I think they're only about $10/each. The rope handles make it so easy to drag around the yard or pull up onto a dolly without risking it tipping. see below...

I popped my seeds indoors on 2/9... that's probably a couple weeks too early though, especially if your trying to keep them to a manageable size. Bruno's advice is spot on about when to move them outside.. when the warm season crops like tomatoes, peppers, etc can go out.... so can the pot. Mother's Day is usually a good benchmark. This will be my first year with a greenhouse though, so I'll probably get them outside sooner.

Thanks guys, I think I’ll get busy starting a few more seeds. Have a pot like that with wiffleball stuff in it. Probably a couple more will do me. Getting psyched, just stop snowing.

I will be starting a few OG Cheese indoors soon and then I have some Lemon Autos to plant from seed outside, I'm planning to be outside the last week of May. I live on the Bay so all my neighbors can see each other in the back, I will have to put some type of lattice up or even screen.

Hey hey heeeeeeeeeeey. Cool to find a MA Outdoor group, most of you in my same area code. Pretty awesome.

I've been in the "Northeast Outdoor" thread for the last 2 season, and am seeing some familiar faces in here (Thumper...good to see you again...and I think Midwest and JJ?)

Last year was...traumatic. I had 80% of my girls in the ground and lost it all. Tried everything but it was just too damn wet. This year...I'm trying to limit any bullshittery. I wont bore you with counts and amounts, but we are planning on 2 runs of autos in pots, and 1 full season run of fems in pots. I had the urge to put some autos in the ground for the first half of the season since they will be finishing in the nice weather, but I haven't decided yet. I have never run autos so I need more research under my belt before I commit to anything other than what I know I can control (POTS I CAN MOVE INSIDE!!!).

Almost went with Getaway Mtn, as I heard great things about their genetics, but I pussed out last minute and went with True North for the autos and ILGM for the fems. Should be popping seeds to get them started inside in the next week, so I will be here for the duration. And, it appears we are all right down the street from each other so our weather forecasts will be relevant. Which I love about this tighter geographical group.

Looking forward to a great season.

Newbie to the forums. I'm in the 413. First outdoor grow for me was last season. I was concerned about frost so I grew two varieties that are supposed to be fast finishers - White Widow Fast feminized and C99X Blueberry fast - both from Seedsman. Started plants indoors and moved out after Memorial Day. I was super happy with them.....and they finished fast! - Harvested 9/3/18!!!

Was planning from ordering from Seedsman again this year but they aren't taking Visa - where are you guys ordering your seeds from?

From the 413 here. First outdoor grow last year. Our garden area always tends to flood, so I built this for my plants. Despite the ground constantly being wet, my girls were high and dry :).....

Nice. You look like you have a ton space. Almost time for a greenhouse now that we are legal?

Subbed... Hoping this is a good journey... I am already working on my 2019 outdoor grow also. I am putting out 4 Frisian Dew that should be ready in sepSeptem early October. I also just ordered some autos that should be ready July or August... This is an effort to maximize the grow season while spreading out my harvest so it's not all at once.

Anyone using any specific nute lines this season that they love and would recommend? Or mostly super soil?

I'm looking for a new nute line for soil in pots. Ive tried a mix of nutes every year and am ready to commit to one line/feeding schedule. I'm open to organic or synthetic.

FYI, Im using RO water from the local "fill-your-own" station, so cal-mag will obviously need to be a componant of whatever I use.

Right now, the front runners in my mind are the Botanicare line, and the GoBox from General Organics.

I just use pelletized lime, Epsom salt, Espoma Tomato Tone, 2 dozen crawlers, and a ton of composted leaves and beer stuff from the brewery, 2 bags of manure to kick start it, then hit it with MegaCrop in flower. $50 for the season.
