Manifolding

... Anybody tried Manifolding? ...
Yup.

... Any good? ...
I think so. I liked how manifolding maintained a fairly even canopy and gave more branches the chance to become a decent top. I have incorporated it into my last two endeavours - call it "Mani-SCROG". I manifolded them to get 10 - 12 good sized branches per lady then wove those branches through the net until it totally covered my 2 x 4.

... Yield ok?
The just manifolding grow produced about 24 tops between 2 ladies which yielded 6.3 oz. This last mani-SCROG produced 78 tops (greater than 3 times) and 3x's the tops hopefully equates to 3x's the yield. I'll find out once this batch is fully cured.

Do u let the ladies grow taller than normally before weaving them through net?

Not taller - but rather laterally!

I weave them through the net as they are still in veg and maintain the canopy as flat as possible. Then do the flip to 12/12 once the net is almost 100% covered in woven branches.

You will still get the flower stretch once you've flipped. The height of the stretch is strain dependent.

Cheers for the info!

When u top the first time, do u cut the leaves belo straight away, or do u wait until plant has recovered?
How often do u top?

Have a good one!

I will top them once I see a couple of good sized nodes showing. I trim the entire top off at that point. Once the two new tops get to be about 2" in length, I start to gently tie them down in opposite directions and keep them as parallel to the ground as possible. I want outward growth at this point

I'll trim off the bottom stuff after I see new growth appear in those two new tops. I will continue to gently tie them down and keep the two stalks growing in opposite directions. New branches will appear on each stalk and I know it's doing well. I'll now take off the stuff below my two main opposing stalks.

I don't top after this point - I keep all branches gently tied down as flat as possible and let them grow past the sides of the bucket. The plant will be about 16" in diameter with about 24 tops. Now I let those grow upwards until they reach about 12" in height. They now go under their SCROG net and I begin the process of weaving the branches through the mesh until my 2 x 4 space is covered. Lollipop the underneath LARF and keep doing LARF maintenance during the first four or five weeks of flower.

How long u been growing like this?

Is a 5gal pot big enough for this operation?

… how long u been growing like this? …
I am on my second time doing the "mani-SCROG" method. I did one with just manifolding and realized that filling my grow area would increase the yields. I harvested the first mani-SCROG and have eight (8) 2L mason jars each filled to about the 3/4 mark about to enter Week 3 of curing. I always leave a little extra room in the jars during the cure. Some of those bud chunks are the size of my thumb. The existing mani-SCROG just went into full 12/12 Monday evening.

Yes sir. A 5 gallon bucket is perfect for this. And they don't have to be anything fancy either. I am using those 5 gallon Home Depot buckets with about 10 of the 3/8" holes drilled at the bottom for drainage. Some landscape cloth at the bottom to help keep the substrate from seeping out the drain holes.
… I have limited space, hence the question about size …
What is the floor space of your area? What is your total height that you can actually grow? Are you using HID or LED?

Oh - and that picture of your pooch is great. Is your dog being frisky or is he giving you that "you just pissed me off, human" look?

3x3 floor space, have about 4 1/2 max in height

Bit of both: a bit pissed coz he had to sleep outside when we went camping.
The puzzled expression is his way of asking if he’s allowed in the tent

Sorry for going dark there. Lawn work over the past couple of days. Hopefully I can finish all that shit this afternoon.

I have a 2' (W) x 4' (L) x 5' (H) housing two ladies in 5 gallon Home Depot buckets. The ladies get woven until the 2' x 4' SCROG net is almost totally filled. Then flip ...

… Are you using HID or LED? …
LED - 2 Viparspectra DS600 Dimmable - almost 290 wall watts each fixture.

… What is your total height that you can actually grow? …
The SCROG net is about 21" above the bottom of the tent floor. 5" at the top of the tent is lost to the light fixture height ( a smidge > 3" ) and hanging hardware. I like to keep the light about 14" above the canopy - any closer tends to yellow some leaves so there appears to be some IR burn if they are any closer than 14".

All boiled down - I've got 20" of actual plant growth space. And since I flip when the plants are at the level of the net, that 20" is entirely for the flower stretch.

The photoperiod strains I have on the grow now stretch about 18" (Red Diesel) and 20" (Blue Cheese). I picked these strains to match my environment since flower stretch was a big factor. The lights are slowly raised during the stretch so that by the time I am at the 4th week of flower, the lights are at the top of the tent and I have my 14" between plant canopy and lights.

The carbon filer and extraction fan outside the tent to help maximize all available grow space.

Man I gotta say without mainlining I’d be lost in my tent.. I’m growing sativa dominant strains and they can get lengthy.. stretching and topping it out parallel is the best for me.
My plants now are around 14-16 but would’ve easily been 2+ feet without the mainlining before flip... I’m going into flip now... I’m thinking perfect... however in the beginning it looks brutal then all of a sudden looks like the plant is bench-pressing...trunk on swole..
