At least you now know the solution!
If anyone is worried about ruining a crop because male traits might show up, rest assured that it takes weeks after the initial pollen sacks form before they produce pollen and open up to drop that pollen.
There's way ample time to decipher males from females before any pollination of the ladies will occur, so rest easy and don't try to force what only time can tell.

I have a small t-5 setup in a separate building than my grow tents not because I worry about pollination but because when I get new clones I like to keep them away from my grow area it's just a good practice
That's very good practice, and I definitely advise it.
Any time you bring anything external into your grow space, it should have a quarantine period per-se.
External contaminants can infect crops. Happened to me twice. Both times it was pest infestation, but it could be anything, even including loose pollen that may have landed on the clone prior to you receiving it.

You don't cut your own clones?
I'm speaking for myself and not the person you replied to, but I have definitely acquired clones from fellow growers in the areas I've lived, simply trading for different strains. Even though I'd been in their grow rooms and understand their operations, I'd still keep anything like this aside from my main grow areas until it's deemed that there's extremely low risk of problems.

After I posted I remember years back having issues when I traded some. I don't trade unless it's going outside. It's good practice

I do my own clones but when changing strains get them from dispensaries or friends but lesson well learned I've gotten spider mites & powdery mildew from outside clone sources
