Making the switch from hobby to cash crop?

Not sure if anyone will be willing to talk about it but was wondering how many started out growing for themselves then decided to sell.
I know many start out cash cropping. See that all the time.

Reason I ask is I was offered a tidy sum today to get into cash cropping. Now this is one of those "Too good to be true" deals. If anybody else on the planet would've asked, I would say no way.

One of my former brothers stopped by. He is off paper finally, so we are able to hang. He had a pretty good business few years back and says most of his infrastructure is still in place. His vacation had nothing to do with growing BTW.
1/4 is going for $90 in these parts. And it's not that great. My worst stuff is far better.
I trust this guy. He keeps his mouth shut. Between us, I think we could do okay.
Not sweating the tech stuff or the legal concerns.
I do miss being self employed. The main guy in the area is another brother and he has been moving toward the exit. He is cool with it.
But do I really want to do this as a business? I really enjoy growing. Will I hate it if becomes a "job"?
Couldn't find any guidance on career builder, lol.
Just curious what the pros think.

this is not racist but your moving into uncle tom area ....uncle tom was a guy i knew he did this on the back 3 lots of his farm

depending if u are 100% legal or your uncle tom

legal u got no major issue set up a contract with the person u get cost out of pocket plus 30% net or 25% of gross

if it is illegal u get 33% of the gross strait off if they raid u are doing the time so that entitles u to a larger share
now listen illegal is 1000% different ......it is not the man moving out u have to worry about it is the players that want to take the area over afterwards

I'm one of those who started growing with the intent of it being my primary income so I could get the fuck out of the corporate world and stop wasting my life. I really loved it for the first few years, it was a lot of fun studying constantly (thanks, RIU!) and building the grow op piece by piece. But as you grow perpetually with the pressure of doing it for a living, the shine does wear off the apple a bit. I still take a lot of pride in my product, but my op has been dialed in for years now and it simply does the same thing over and over again. The problems that pop up keep you on your toes, and it's fun looking for that next great pheno from time to time. Even though it's not as magical as it once was, it beats the fuck out of spending one's life commuting and working with idiots for substandard pay and no real security. Even when I'm working my ass off (harvest weeks, which are every other week) I'm in my underwear, high, watching daytime tv, or chilling to some great tunes. I especially appreciate it when the weather is really bad, and I'm cozy inside with a cup of coffee and a blunt, watching the parade of metal coffins inch by on the highway. I did that for decades so I've done my time. Growing for a living rocks, go for it, dude...

Good issues to consider. It's a non legal state. Like most places, there are people who would have to be "respected". I would think it shouldn't be an issue but have not made that call yet. Lost a buddy few years ago who didn't make that call.
Not the first time I've done trade in the "nontaxed" world. But this is different as far as producing said item as opposed to just "acquiring".
But yes, I'm the crazy uncle at the run down place at the end of the abandoned road with some land and a few out buildings. No issues with other endeavors.
Told him to let me mull it over. I have been legit for a few years. Regular job, nothing to bad other than my little grow. TBH its kinda boring and I have a hard time punching a clock. Often authority figures don't seem to understand my humor.

I'm leaning towards yes but I'll have to bounce it off my oldest. She is quite good at finding the flaw in my design, lol.
I tried doing the straight(ish) and narrow. Played by the rules but didn't do me much good.
Thanks for all good info.

Fucking exactly. Grew up farming for ourselves. Had my own business for over 20 years. I can't take being a "employee", especially in a "right to work" state.

ok then i am going to help u

1 if u are growing outdoors in a field u need to know the local air traffic (like where i live is near a highway a few miles away so i have choppers flying over me all the time 6-8 a day)
2 u are going to need to invest in booby traps .......i personally like the trip line hooked to a shotgun shell (u can use a pepper blast the sound will alert u and the pepper blast will allow u to get the person)
3 invest into a GPS drone .........it can fly over the fields and see things for u with out need of u going to the area
4 where u grow u need to block off all access ......for u to get in put a gate in in middle of thorn bushes .....use the bushes on the gate make it look like a wall except u know where the latch is and how to get to it to let u in with a car or 4 wheeler
5 u need to put a lawyer on retainer ......and u should also give 20k to them to post your bond
6 i know u are going to hate this but it might save u ......in the feilds u need to lay pipe ....u are gong to make it like a pro pain burner ......if the bad thing happens u turn on the main tank of gas and u light the pipes they will burn the field leaving nothing for the cops to charge u with

now moonshiner trick around the field ......u need to place fishing hooks hung in trees eye throat mouth lvl.........do this about 20 yards into the land with signs all over the place private land enter at own risk trespassers will be charged

now what happen to uncle tom was his site was found out about the other side .....they rolled up to his place and sprayed it down with machine guns and told him to stay inside as the 18 wheeler came up and they were ripping them out of the ground loading the truck

keep this in mind and line spots of your house with some 1 inch thick steel plate to use as a bullet break fighting point for u

Good luck. I haven't had to sell weed for decades, but when I did I always felt pressure...weather, thieves, animals, cops, fucking helicopters, etc.

Since it's just a hobby now, there's no pressure and I grow far better stuff in a much smaller more secure indoor space.

I feel that shit, and I'm not even out to sell. :(

My house is my own and it's not as if dozens of strangers are running through the place, but still the paranoia prevents me from making a move just yet.
I'd love to be able to grow my own, I've even got plenty of seeds/space, but this is such a toxic area for such things, man....I could be a raging pillhead/drunkard and they'd slap me on the wrist and give me probation, but get caught growing (GASP) WEED?! These rednecks will have me tarred, feathered, and lynched in the town square. I shouldn't have to deal with this bullshit at my age and over a damned MEDICINAL PLANT, but hey, welcome to cuckservative white trash 'Murica!
