Great piece on John McCain in Rolling Stone

In its broad strokes, McCain's life story is oddly similar to that of the current occupant of the White House. John Sidney McCain III and George Walker Bush both represent the third generation of American dynasties. Both were born into positions of privilege against which they rebelled into mediocrity. Both developed an uncanny social intelligence that allowed them to skate by with a minimum of mental exertion. Both struggled with booze and loutish behavior. At each step, with the aid of their fathers' powerful friends, both failed upward. And both shed their skins as Episcopalian members of the Washington elite to build political careers as self-styled, ranch-inhabiting Westerners who pray to Jesus in their wives' evangelical churches.

In one vital respect, however, the comparison is deeply unfair to the current president: George W. Bush was a much better pilot.

A closer look at the life and career of John McCain reveals a disturbing record of recklessness and dishonesty

Well worth a read.

Sidney? OMG, his middle name is the same as a FOREIGN CITY in a FOREIGN COUNTRY! Kinda faggy-sounding too. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)

What was Obamas position on the bailout bill?
-same as Mccain, right?

Whats Obamas thought on wire taps and hacking emails?
-same as mcciain.

How about war, whats obamas positon on war?
also the same as mccian, just in another land.aint war he is not.

Mccain owns something like 4 condos and 3 houses.
Obama only owns one Mansion.

Both are paid to do a job, both collect the money paid yet don't show up for work.
-I'm sure your job has the same rules.

Mccain had a chance to hold up the american people and vote fuck no for the bill, that he clearly doesn't understand.
-yep, you can once again just replace mccains name with obama.

If obama backs his party no matter what, how is that change? Isn't that really just more of the same? Just the thought of giving congress a raise pisses me off. They come along with your obama vote.you know, the vote for change!

people its very clear, you will become apart of the american problem if you vote, obama/mccain. Please go out of your way and really study everyone who is running.
I only say this, because we have better picks and you won't see these names on any media.
Please wake up my nightmare is about to be your reality.

So you're saying that voting for Obama rather than McCain would make no difference? I remember making the same argument in 2000, that Gore would be as bad a president as Bush: "a pair of stuffed shirt corporate whores," I remember calling them. I have since found cause to revised my opinion.

Here are are couple of significant differences between Obama and McCain.

Obama is where he is because of his own efforts. McCain is where he is largely because of his grandfather's and father's name and his father-in-law's money.

Obama is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he served as president of the Harvard Law Review. McCain graduated West Point--a school he would not have been qualified to attend if he had not been a legacy--894th out of a class of 899.

I don't know about you, but having a smart guy in the White House, and one who knows what it's like not to have a lot of money, would make a big change for the better, IMHO.
