Hello Fellow Growers,
This is my first post on this forum and I just wanted to share a bit advice about Mag Drive Pumps.
I had a problem with my pump when I let it sit, connected to my DWC system, for a couple months after finishing a grow. I figured it was burnt out, since there are no direct connections between motor and the impeller, so I set it aside and hooked up my spare. Today I picked it up again and tried using in my sink with same results. I got the pump to work by removing from the water briefly and putting back in. I did some research and realized that the pump was not priming itself properly. I removed the 4 screws holding the impeller in, and noticed calcium build-up between the metal axle and magnetic which caused the impeller to be seized up. I submerged the impeller in a 50% vinegar 50% water solution, and almost immediately the impeller seemed to loosen up. I washed the housing cavity with the same solution and put it back together. It now works like new.
Just wanted to post this for anyone else who has an issue with their pumps.
