the first time i heard em was on my mother's boyfriend's mixtape. the track was "infinite". as young as i was that song put every fear or troubles i had to rest... for the time being. anyway i was dedicated eminem fan from 1997-2009, it was year after he released "relapse". when he stopped doing drugs he stopped being ill (yes i still say ill) pun intended and settled for being dope. while he is one of THE greatest mcs to do it live as he he does, he seems nowadays more reserved, calm, being rational. this is funny when me and my frind brought this up; "he stopped doing drugs now he's starting to suck" are the exact words my boy said to me. eminem the way i remember him was controversial, bizarre and psychotically silly and irrational. a lot of people would tell me that he has to be a father and set examples for his kids, bulshit! hailey is damn near 18 and the other is in her mid teens, their bound to do dumb shit whether daddy has a say or not. i just miss slim man, when he smoked weed, did pills and took shrooms, he was figuratively and literally hype. rap god? the man has FULLY embraced the main stream when at one point we the music companies and the FCC would keep him underground. now look at him (tsk tsk).
