if i have 4 digital 400 watt with a bulb rated at 50 000 lumens. how much lumens per square feet do I have in a 10 x 10 x 7 area.

Math isn't your strong point is it?

Theoretically. your putting out 200,000 lumens, i say theoretically because the light spread will not be completely even, but for the sake of math(and not accounting for different reflectors) we will just even it out to 200,000 over your entire 10x10 area.

so 10x10=100 sq ft.
200,000 lumens per 100sq ft

if you suck at math like me, just knock off the zeros

200,000 for 100sq ft
20,000 for 10sq ft
2,000 for 1 sq ft

so with that area your looking at 2,000 lumens per square foot.

Why go with 400s if your using 4 in that area? why not 3 600s for the same wattage and more lumens. 600s have the best lumen/watt output.

400w, good bulbs can put around 50,000 lumens 50,000/400 equals 125 lumens a watt
600w, good bulbs generally around 95,000 lumens. 95,000/600 159 lumens a watt
100w, good bulb again generally around 145,000 L. 145,000/1000 equals 145 lumens a watt

another benefit is that the 600s are no harder(for the most part) to cool than 400s so they can often be as close as the 400s to the plants which helps a lot with the loss of light over distance.

PS the 3 600s will net you about 2850 lumens per sq ft. Some say you need 5-7000, but i'm not so sure about that much.

It's hard to tell what you're saying. You have 4 or 1 400w? In a 10x10 area you get 100 square feet, just multiply the sides. Now you take the lumens from the bulb and divide that by your sruare feet and you get your lumens per square foot.

1 400 in a 10x10 area = 500 lumens per square foot. If you have 4 bulbs you get 2,000 per square foot.

well the reason why i will be using 400's is because i already have 4 of them they are lumatek digital and 3 of them are dimmable so I dont see why I would waste them. I also I have 2 1000w digi's and 2 600w digi's. Im planning to use the 4 400watters in a 10x10x7 tent same for the 2 600watters and use 1 1000watter per 8x8x7 tents. What would be your opinion on the minimum lumens per sq ft for good results.

yeah i wasn't sure either, but i would have to imagine that in a 10x10 area he has at least 4x 400w. But as i said, even that isn't really enough or that efficient.

sorry i should of put 4x lol. let's say im only growing them 2 ft to 3 ft max high would it be enough to have some nice tops ?

I would really just partition off your growing area. If you are set on using as little light as possible maybe do 4x10 or 5x10 with a 10 foot light mover, on the mover put two 600s or a 1k. You will be saving wattage over your 4x 400s(1600 watts) and yielding more.

Alternatively you could use the entire 10x10 with three 600s or 1000s on 3 light movers so that each light has only to deal with 3.33 feet width. MAYBE you could get away with 2 lights on two movers, then each light is dealing with 5 ft width.

Keep in mind 10x10 is a pretty huge area for flowering, that is going to add up to serious amounts of plants. Ventilation and everything will need to be well sorted. I mean going off 1 plant a sq-ft thats 100 plants.

Maybe you could research on vertical setups, im not very informed on them, but they could utilize your 400s if that is what you have to work with.

Yes I have 4x lumatek 400w and I also have 2 600w and 2 1000w I upgraded too. But I have the space to setup a grow with the 400watters. This is why i was asking. And I wouldnt be using the whole 10x10 area i'd be using 8x8 and have 2 feet of roomto walk around and work.
