Lumen output from veg to flower?

So it was brought to my attention that it is recommended that you have three times the amount of lumens during flowering than in veg. I have been using the same 1000w hps from seedling to now, I'm 3 1/2 weeks into flowering. Will my buds just not develop as thick and full as if I had 3000w, or used a 400 hps or mh during veg..?.. any advice or thoughts on the matter?

i have never heard of that... i have a greater "light density" than when i veg but i use 1000 watters for both... i think you will be just fine . how close is the light to the plants?

I never heard of that either and the person who told me said he read it in an "ask Ed", I've read a lot of things from Ed Rosenthal and don't remember that tidbit. I have my lights as far up as they can go, its about 6 inches from it. I use the cool tube and regardless of what a lot of people say (that the cool tubes trap heat and aren't efficient in cooling the bulb) its only 85 with the light on, 6" away.
