LST Question

well topping will stop your main shoot growth and branch out other colas and budsites, WITH LST u can make very many MULTIPLE heads on a very small or controlled plant, just be gentle, i went OVER-BOARD a while back on LSTing and made a plant do a cicle, LITERALLY. but its easy to SNAP, a branch.
here she was just cloned, then i started cranking her arounnd her self till i got a few months of veg in and...
but this was HSTing, HIGH-strain training, lol.

Hi There I prefer to LST with a screen...
So much less labour intentive that tying individual branches...
And if you get it right, and I am only half way thru my grow, it should look like this...
This is the first time I've attempted this type of LST and its excellent, I can highly recommend it... I wont grow any other way anymore...

heres a hydro plant i topped tho, it had a lil less veg time, but still got OUT OF CONTROL BIG.,,, dont compare the yeils to each other tho, the LST grow i was still learning and this DWC grow piks im about to show u was either some awesome fist time skill or i got a lil growing guardian angel over me. 
....
but this girl was topped at the 8th tru node up and vegged 2 months....

ill try to break it down a bbit for ya.
see the plant has hormones in it the can kinda feel where they r at height wize. with LSTing, wen the plant is shootin a main cola up and making it the dominate one, u simply take a piece a string, or a paper clip or a chain or a bulldozer, WATEVER u wanna use and pull that sucker(the top of it) down, u want it to be below its self kinda.
with topping, that simple, just cut the top off it.

heres a plant im growing right now, its about 2 weeks flowering at the moment, but i topped her at the third true node up, and utilized a bit of LSTing to open up the canopy even more. kinda gave it a spider look from above.....
started out like this....
then topped her.....
then started a lil LSTing.....
this was all in veg after she healed and came to terms with her new position in life, she has a OPEN canopy and 6 unique colas

H Mishin, you really don't need a thread... This was my first time and the plants pretty much tell you what to do... Use my photos in my journal for a reference if you'd like to know how long I LST'd for...
You put your screen over when you are still vegging...
Then each day as the plant grows, you gently position each branch underneath the screen, just tuck it under.... The next day it will grow into that square....
I got about two weeks into flower before the plants started to tell me to let them start to grow thru the screen... You do get to a point where you don't have to touch them anymore....
Then just let them get to about here,
This also depends on the size of your screen, once your screen is full, just let them go....

I've thought about doing a SCROG
but how can you remove the plants to water them if say you grow them in a tent or closet or cabinet?
*I take my plants out of their tent and water them in a bathtub so I can be sure they don't drain into the bottom of the tent and that water doesn't lead to any problems (even though there isn't any risk of it getting out of the tent)

If growing in soil you could use a drip tray. Think the sizes most hydro shops sell match the size of tents. If growing in DWC buckets you can use a jug or get a piece of hose pipe an syphon out your water before a change, not very tasty though
