LST Question

I'm doing my first LST, this is my second grow.

The plant has been tied down for two days I believe. The top hasn't grown much, but the sides are bushier.

I was wondering if I have to keep the plants stems/branches tied down for the whole grow. Do I have to leave them tied, or can I remove the string after awhile? If I remove the string I'm using to tie down the stems and branches will the plant retain it's shape?

some plants will retain shape but i would just leave the ties in place through the whole grow, u can rearange them though to place them lower or to the left or right, check out the link below call show me what u got lst, its all about lsting, and u can ask any qeustion their

lst will cause the tied down portions to grow and remain distorted... you can get some bonzai looking plants that way. it'll actually be cool... not sure how long you need to leave 'em tied though, sorry...

whats up cage.
Lst is my method of growing also. I like to leave the strings or rope on until the intial stretch of flowering is finished.
By that time, the stems have some "woodiness" to them and usually retain their shape.
dont remove any strings in veg though, unless you want to undo all the work you just did.

Well i have been using the Low stress training technique for the past few years. You can un tie it but i would leave your plant tied for at least a month. With in a week you will see the head turn back up. What strain are you using? And about the change in structure after you un tie... i would say they just get bushy as F*. Here are some pics to explain. (my pics)

Here is a Northern Light clone that was LST'd then untied and transplanted into a 5gal grow bag full of Ocean Forest. Every time I would check on my baby I would also somewhat manually LST bending the branches threw out its life.

Then planted in ground with bag of O.F.

Skip to end result> I had about 18 plants not LST'd and this one got avg 3 oz on others but got 8 oz off this one. Fluffy weed too.
