LSD and PTSD and Deppression

Was trying to find some to help me with significant PTSD and Major Deppression. What are your thoughts and LSD as a treatment for this, in a phychiatrist light? Also curious about Shrooms as treatment... Just intrested in some thoughts on this?

Aswell as phychedelics and nuerological regrowth. Theories are cool too.

I've had depressive issues in the past and have done shrooms and lsd about 7 times. If you are depressed, stay away from psychedelics until you're in a good space again. Period. Don't believe all this bullshit and pseudo-science about drugs curing psychological disorders. 99% of the time they make them worse. You don't want to get sucked into a hole you can't climb out of.

I have allways been in the believe that you should stay away from acid and other stuff like shrooms if your mind is`t 110%

even seen people with minor problems get worse by smoking to much/wrong kind of hash

allways been told, and always did stay with good trusted friends in a safe environment when I did "stamps" or shrooms or MDMA

best time I ever had was on shrooms, with 3 good old childhood friends on a sunny summer day alone in the woods, some water and a few pree rolled joints and some good walking boots

My Psychiatrist doesn't even want me to smoke weed even though I have a prescription for medical marijuana for my mental illness... I have tried to explain the benefits of CBD helping children with epilepsy and having antipsychotic properties but they don't care they just want me to take prescription medication and just smoke tobacco if I choose to... Personally I hate psychedelics and stimulants that make me say awake I just want to knock myself out with prescription drugs and weed

I really don't like the term cure being applied to any treatment for mental illness.
What many psychedelic drugs can do is help to get the ball rolling on getting better. MDMA helps people trust and open up to people, psychedelics can give us entirely new perspectives on our problems but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done and I think people trivialize that when saying that a substance can cure a disorder.

LSD can be used in the teatment of PTSD but it is very unwise for you to treat yourself, as has been said, you could get yourself into a hole and have a tough time returning even to the dark place you are in now. As Duck states, MDMA has been used to treat PTSD as well but only in a clinical setting and only while professionals monitor your treatment.

You are best going to a qualified doctor, and if he won't help you, find one that will. Don't let that sort of thing ruin your life, I've seen far too many good folk take permanent cover, drink themselves silly, self medicate with opiates or benzos and have multiple problems beyond their original affliction.

Remeber that a serious trip can easily be a traumatic experience all by itself - in my opinion this is the origin of the mythical "flash back".

I've heard some therapists have been having success with MDMA in therapy. Not as something to be used on the regular, but as something to help the sufferer let their guard down and confront things that typically disturb/frighten them.

EDIT: Dammit, someone beat me to it. There's a couple good articles on Pubmed.com if you don't mind sifting through a lot of jargon. I just finished a paper on use of hallucinogens for therapy, so I've been doing a lot of reading on the subject

I DON'T RECCOMEND THIS IT IS PURELY AN INSTANCE IN MY LIFE; Personally,when I have a big problem in my life,I take a large dose od lsd and mdma..it forces me to focus on the problem and see things from different perspectives,like what others might feel/see/ about my situation..it can be a help or hinderance..if u chicken out and 'diddle the dose'(terrence mckenna)..u are left with a puzzle missing a few pieces and can really scramble any forward achievements u might have allready made..I reccomend a dr,and no psychedelics till the dr. Says so...I'm no dr. But id hate for something bad to happen to you,and give yourself,and psychedelics a bad name...be safe and easy bro!

Viet Nam Vets often came home with serious PTSD and no one helped them, no one even acknowleged the affliction, maybe they called it shell shock, maybe they just claimed that these poor folk were faking it.

Then these people took to smoking superior pot and taking acid, and they got worse. I believe I told the story once of a friend who was a mine sweeper (I don't recall the real name) who was high on acid when his buddy stepped on a mine and drenched the guy with his guts and brains. If that isn't a cause of such a disorder I don't know what is.

In this case, yes. Don't get me wrong some of these treatments can have miraculous results, but I do feel the terminology makes a big difference here.

Psilocybin has been investigated for treating depression actually. I remember after the first time I did shrooms I felt amazing for about a month after. This is not an uncommon effect and has been studied. It could help, but you might want to do everything you can to avoid a bad trip. Take a really small dose. Really small. See if it helps, build on it etc. The potential for a bad trip is very real when you are not in good head space. I'm not sure if this after glow is contingent on having a good experience or not. My first time I had an amazing experience.

I agree with this.

Like I said, if you want to experiment, do not take recreational doses. Take really small ones and see what happens.

As far as exacerbating my deppression and PTSD maybe in the long run by i have a really good chemistry with LSD and mushrooms. I have experience so dont think i dont. Whenever i know im going to trip, my anticipation is enough to amp me into a good mood, so its not like i plan to start a trip withought a good mindset. MDMA is a bueatiful drug and it has helped me in the past just unleash my subconcious and at the time, i swear to god i felt really felt i was on a road to greatness. I took my fist MDMA dose when i was working at Taco Bell. The only job i had was on food line. Two days later i was given the code to the safe. That same day that i took the MDMA i ended up at a party wich was my first party in months.. it opened my up so i had the power to run on my subconcious cues, best days of my life. Left me with a wicked twitch and anxiety in the wake though...

As far as LSD and shrooms being a problem in the long run if used as a everyother day therapy, i realise this by studying Sid Barret. He got really fucked up in the end barley could talk sense. But this man acheived greatness through drugs wich is what i plan to do. Thanks btw for throwing MDMA in there, good to hear supporters there because i feel the same. I think you have to limit yourself on it though for theraputic use because it can fuck you up as far as anxiety. Like once a month?

I always take small doses. Nevery really had the urge to take more than one. I had good acid so id usually take half at a time... When i was into it id do it about once every two weeks...

I think with my chemistry with acid, its like a reviver of the smile. I took shrooms in my current state, just a gram that id stash away and it totally woke me up and i felt happy, at peace, more tuned into people around me and the social game... So for me it works just wanted some 2nd opinions.

Intresting! never tried it. I think substituting MDMA with cocaine would work to become receptive to the philosophical universe, and where you are in it. See im on a year paper so no stimulants/weed for me for a while, most unfortunatly have to stick to the trips

a phychiatristic view acknowledges everyones chemistry is different...
