Loupe arrives tomorrow...m i close?

Calyxes are fat as fuck.

Most of the pistils have changed colors and are thin and receded.

IMO, she is at the very start of the peak harvest time, but might still plump up a bit given another week.

That looks pretty similar to my AK, what strain is she?

The first is some sort of Bubblegum and the way she smells she should come with a little cartoon on wax paper featuring Bazooka Joe. ;) The beauty is a local thing called the Paralyzer.

Hold off until you can check her out under magnification. You are probably in the harvest window but a little longer won't hurt, might help.
Loupe is a 30x and its going to take some getting used to. Not seeing amber. Not really able to discern clear vs cloudy that well. (Fucking rookie) I can tell you I am seeing some nice coverage and I feel comfortable in waiting a couple days.

I think more time is a good call. I use a 60-100X scope and find the 60X works best for me. I have to adjust the focus a lot to tell the true color. If just a little blurry a clear trichome can look cloudy. So it isn't easy even when you know what you are looking for. That said, the closer they get to 100% cloudy, the easier it gets. So when I have trouble discerning color I sort of just know it needs more time. The ambers of course are easy. I would also be nervous harvesting if I don't see a few ambers here and there.

What kind of scope...there is a rather inexpensive ($10) that is out there with mixed reviews? Zoom in on the pic above and you get closer than I get with the 30x. I see what seems to be some small % of amber going on. Thurs. night it happens. (Taking Friday off).

There is NO WAY to tell if a plant is ready from a picture. There is no real way to tell for sure without a scope.
Anyone who thinks they can tell you if your plant is ready from a picture is someone you DO NOT listen to, so even asking people to look at a picture and tell you is completely off base. Anyone who knows anything knows it is not possible.

Well, unless you are a moron like Ed Rosenthal. Then you just wait until the "buds glisten and has a fragrance".....

I think the $10 scopes are just fine and inexpensive to replace if they get busted. In the pic your trichomes look mostly cloudy, until you zoom in. Then you can see that many are partly cloudy and some still clear. Not much amber so I would keep her going.

Sheeeeeit....another week. :( I will be at 70 days on Sunday. Supposed to be a 60-70 day plant though so... Got things lined up to chop Thurs. night but, I am flexible...might see if I cannot get this scope in my hands quick.

I like all those white pistils to recede before i chop. I also gave up counting days a few years ago. they're done when they're done. counting days won't change that.

They are definitely finishing up :weed: Calyxes have swollen to the point of swallowing pistils and the bud growth has almost swallowed adjacent sugar leaves. I've used 30x 60x and 100x myself. Nothing wrong with a 30x. Much faster imo and easier to hold/focus; wieldy. If you hold them just right focus is crystal clear and tireless. The particular models of 60-100x I have don't make it easy to get a trich shot without taking bud samples. GL Girls look tasty :weed: :peace:

:) ...I was envisioning your reply even as I was typing my post. Ha. What is the brand name of that scope?

I don't agree with that due to the fact that the plant exhibits obvious physical changes throughout the flowering process that are easily identifiable. Swollen calyxes and thin / receded brown / red pistils are clear signs that the flower / bud is within the harvest window, and like fruiting plants, the grower has the option of an immediate harvest, or allowing it to ripen a bit on the vine.

It certainly is possible to determine whether the harvest window is open or not by examining pictures, and some pictures clearly show the color of the trics as well.
