the plants last saturday directly after transplant to soil.
I think they were being over watered when in the hydro.
only twice a day for 10 minutes, but supposedly this NLXBB doesn't like a lot of water

from what i have read it seems like a nitrogen deficiency for the lower yellow leaves being yellow, but this FFOF soil is suppose to be loaded with the right nutes.
What do y'all think is going on? i really appreciate any help. thank you very much.

They look nitrogen deficient and they look thirsty. The plants are probably in the process of spreading roots, and trying to get used to the new medium, oxygen level, etc. Give them some water, don't add any nutes yet, and see if they pull out in the next 3 days or so. Are you going to transplant them before they go out? Those are small containers for an outdoor grow.

they are 3 gallon bags, but not completely full as you can see i rolled it down so i could pick it up. i always roll the sides of the bag down so i don't have to put my fingers in the soil.
putting my fingers in the soil always makes my finger nails fall off.
Anyways, there is probably about 2 1/2 gallons of soil.
I play on acclimating them to outdoors in these bags so i can move them into some shade originally and then into direct sunlight
At which time i will dig a hole bigger then the bag and possibly put some more soil (dunno what yet)
This is depending on how large I think that plant will get.
As i will be forcing flower when i put them outdoors.
They should flower in 55-65 days maybe longer, due to acclimating to being outdoors
I've been reading lots of journals trying to get an idea of size of plant to size of root mass and room needed.
Also the soil i'm planting in i don't think it very good, so i'll either amend it and put it in with plant
or i'll use some other soil maybe more ffof. 2 bags maybe. 1/2 bag for each plant extra with the 2 1/2 gallon bags
i just used a calculator and my 1.5 cu. ft. bag should have 11.25 gallons of soil
so i used all but a little so i will guesstimate the bags should have 2 3/4 gallons of soil a piece.
so maybe these bags are made larger then 3 gallons so that you don't have to stick your fingers in the soil when you move it
that'd be a good idea cause i hate sticking my fingers in the soil (finger nail issues)
anyhow 2 3/4 gallons of soil plus half a bag is about 5 1/2 more per.
so my question with me digging a hole is 8 1/4 gallon per plant.
i would think that would be more then sufficent for how large these indica dominant plants will get (NLXBB)
in 2 weeks these things will probably be a foot tall so i would think they would finish at 24".
8 1/4 has got to be enough soil for a 2 foot plant
thank you for your help.
and sorry for the pictures there from my cell phone

whats up slamma.

well first off i dont think thats a bad thing, i transplanted my SnowWhite from a party cup sized pot to a bigger 2gal and the plant did the same thing as yours i just gave it water and it perkd up

My friend, please let me help you from making a terrible mistake!

I myself made the foolish mistake of thinking i could do a full flower in 2 1/2 gallons of soil in a 3 gallon bag! Oh lord how I regret it! Now on smaller plants with good genetics it worked alright, and they have all finished up for the most part. But the large landrace strains are doing terrible! They are now in their 3rd month of flower and they are still fluffy and no where near done, all the leaves are starting to die and the buds and trichomes are still forming, and I mean massive leaf loss. They look like hell, I almost want to throw them away, but since this is money on the line I am just going to take a gamble and transplant into 5 gal buckets tomorrow. I'll give you an update and give you a before and after picture a week after I transplant.

But yeah, once they get a good root system, transplant them, or right before you flower them. I'm also in bags btw. I am not going to use them again, you can't move your plants around at all or the content of the bag shifts and then they drain like shit and get dry spots, so I'm going to buckets for that reason. If you do bags, pack the plants in good and tight, and leave them alone, that is their purpose. More plants in less space, and they suck in my opinion for anything else.

Makes them easy as hell to transplant without shock though, sure am glad I have them for this grow for just this reason.

I hope this helps.

I neglected to read your other post until now, but if you trans outdoors I believe 8 1/4 would be more than enough for 2 footers. I would use that much, the more the merrier.

Thanks for all of your help. Plants have recovered nicely and begun rapid vegetative growth. I'll post pics soon. I'm going to start harding them off tomorrow. One first then the other three a week later. To see how it responds. Thanks all. Happy growing

I actually did not tie 3 of them back up after the photo shoot, one of them is stretched somehow or just a stretchy pheno. it is one of the NLxBB i'm quite sure (one of them is GHS Bubba Kush)
I did the LST when i hadn't medicated this morning
i came home after work and medicated and went for the photo op and realized the rapid rooter plugs (in the soil) were being yanked out of the soil by my LST'ing. This morning i was stunned how easily they were being bent over. (stupid)
Once i was medicated it was easy to see i had pulled them over and also out of the soil.
they were packed back in and watered in some.
I only pulled the big one back over so the canopy was even.

questions from all this ranting above...
1)are the potential clone sites pictures big enough to cut tomorrow or tomorrowtomorrow?
2)there is a 400w MH in a 6" cool tube with a wing reflector on it above these plants. I can put my hand on the tube without being burnt. Would it be better to move the light a few inches above the plants? i can hold my hand an inch away for a minute without out getting hot. but i feel like the light doesn't cover as much of the plants from that close. (the cooltube isn't the greatest light reflector)

thank you all

Okay I ordered the whole fox farm line of flower nutes. Tiger bloom, big bloom, open sesame, beastie bloomz, and cha ching. So now I need to decide what soil to add when I put these outside. I dug 2 ft x 2 ft holes yesterday. Since I'm using all these nutes should I just use plain pro mix? Fox farm planting soil? Which has less nutes in it then ffof. More ffof and all these bloom nutes would be too much? Please help me I've looked around a lot reading soil recipes but not many people transplant indoor to outdoor flower into the ground like I am planning too. So my soil only had to be good for flowering only. And will be getting all these ff nutes. Thanks very much!

Hey SlammerJamma,
I was having the same problems with yellowing leaves in veg.
My grow shop guy told me FFOF has changed the bark used for a more acidic type. He reccomended using a Pro Mix HP and earth worm casings mix. I switched and have not had any yellowing problems since.

I should add as a test I mixed into the soil some of the FFOF on my outside mj plant and within two days it started to yellow as well.
Sucks cause I still have two unopened bags left.

normal stress cut off the dead leaves make sure to heavy water at least once to help the recovery of the plant i use superthrive 4 to 5 drops per gallon .
