Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins will have his day in court this November. A judge has set a November 25th trial date for the singer, who stands accused of 22 sex offenses. Those charges include two counts of raping one child (allegedly around the age of one years old) in April 2012 and conspiring to rape/sexually assault another child between August and October of the same year.
Watkins appeared in court for a plea hearing this past Monday, June 03rd, and pled not guilty to the aforementioned charges. He also pled not guilty to a variety of other sexual-related offenses, including the aiding and abetting an assault by penetration of the second child.
Other charges Watkins currently faces include possession of child pornography from between January and December of 2012, as well as possession of images of bestiality. The oldest of those charges range back to 2007.
Two other females unidentified for legal reasons, aged 20 & 24, face similar charges in the case with one of them also appearing in court today via videolink; while the other was not present. They are both expected to be tried alongside Watkins in late November. Watkins trial is expected to last up to a month with a case management hearing to be held on August 12th.
Todays proceedings saw the defense unsuccessfully attempt to have the trial held in a venue outside of Wales. All three parties will remain in custody with Watkins himself continuing to be held at Parc Prison in Bridgend, Wales.
