Looking to build a new LM301B PCB

Ok, I built a LM561C S6 PCB 3500k with 672 diodes. According to the samsung calculator I was 170 lm/w at 300 watts but I honestly only ran the board up to 280watts or 171 lm/w. I was very surprised how well the lights did over a 5x10 grow, I and many people that saw my site in person felt the PCBs were better than my Nanolux DE's 1000k with the Gavita Philips bulb.

I need more lights so I'm looking to order more but I'm just doing this as a hobby so I want to ask others before I do this if they see any issues with the driver running the possible new build.

New build:

Spectrum = 3000k

PCB dimensions 42 inches long by 12 inches wide, yes almost 4 feet long $$

784 LM301B diodes, 112 more than the LM561C

Estimated lm/w will be 190 at 280 watts

I will run the lights at 250watts at 193 lm/w because I hardly went above that with the LM561C build (280watts max). At 240watts I seemed to not need any cooling with the LM561C build so I suspect with 112 more diodes and more efficiency 250watts should be perfectly fine passively cooled with the LM301 build... The lights are both made to be 300watt capable and I have run a light that high for about a week towards the end of flower but don't feel it added anything as it was simply too much light IMO.

The light will be made with 14 rows of 56 diodes. The 56 diodes are run in series and the 14 rows of the 56 diodes are run in parallel. The Forward Voltage is 2.8 per diode so 156.8 volts needed on the driver. The driver is a meanwell HLG-320H-C1750A.

Does anyone see any issues?

I will add 2 pictures of the LM561C build because it will look the same when done but the LM301B will be maybe 2 inches wider to accommodate the 2 extra rows of 56 diodes.

I'll be ordering 8-12 boards so I want to make sure they work as best I can before placing the order. I feel like it should be just fine, the LM561C lights are amazing and it only costs a little bit more for an even better light so I want to try that... But a change while seemingly not an issue could have problems and again I just do this as a hobby and don't pretend to have all the answers =D

It certainly is a lot less wiring than strips! Cost?
I have never built strips, nor would I personally want to. After building 16 or so cob lights the time involved just seems ridiculous. Basically all I have to do is wire the drive to a wall socket, then neg to neg and pos to positive to the PCB from the driver. I add on the heat sink (just a flat 1/8th inch aluminum sheet for strudyness) and a couple hole and side holders really for looks, they slip right on. Takes about 10 min to build from scratch, I'm sure if I built 20 in a row I'd do it in 5 minutes.

Cost will be just under 300$ for the expanded board with LM301B chips. I don't get to buy any of this in bulk, 50-100 so I don't get discounts... If I did I'd be around 215$ a light. Now these lights can go over 300 watts, but I see no reason to do so and I don't want to add any active cooling. My goal is the same as with my last PCB build, make workhorse lights that get the job done extremely well without adding bells and whistles that may or may not amount to anything.

These lights should run cool at 250watts, slightly warm but cool for a high powered passively cooled light IMO. in 5 to 10 years if treated with care I don't see why these lights would not still be able to grow some of the best anything you put under them. 250watts might not seem like a lot of power but when you get to these levels of efficient that 250watts is simply turning more of that watt from the wall into usable light for the plant to grow... It's almost shocking to see less than 1000watts with my lm561c grow IMO better than my 2000k HPS DE grow. I can't comment on what this build could do until I see it grow first hand, but I would guess it would be as good as the lm561c but with slightly less power per light, meaning less heat and less money spent on power for the same quality and quantity grows.

170lm/w VS 190lm/w seemed worth the extra $ this build. Funny because 170 lm/w was already considered incredible to me.

Hey bro. I just received my LM301b PCB order today from Alibaba and wanted to share details. I ordered 18 boards for a vertical grow project.

The manufacturer recommended putting 960 diodes on each PCB to copy one of their Canadian customer's order for max efficiency. They charged me $140 each board.

I just got these today so will need to put together the housing and order drivers. But i'm curious if you have any more detail on how the led's have worked for you so far?

The manufacturer recommended putting 960 diodes on each PCB to copy one of their Canadian customer's order for max efficiency. They charged me $140 each board.

I just got these today so will need to put together the housing and order drivers. But i'm curious if you have any more detail on how the led's have worked for you so far?
What diodes are they meant to be?

I've just ordered a couple more to see how the quality is this time around having felt it could've been better on the last order

Are you certain the diodes are Samsung? I was thinking about ordering custom PCB boards a while back but the vendors would just say yes to everything I would ask. & then some dude on here had CV flex strips he thought were cc Cuse the vendor said so lol.

Attached is a pic of the panels laid down on the rack. There's about an inch spacing between each PCB. I need to order heatsinks and make an aluminum housing to get these bad boys going. They recommended running 150w Meanwell drivers with dimmer to dial in the PPFD.

I know of that company.
They do a nice white 800 led board with added 660nm red.

I dont see too many bridgelux eb strip threads anymore, the samsung seem to have taken over. These boards are way cheaper than quantum boards but still a bit more than eb strips which are like 215 diodes for 18 or 23 CAD somewhere around there. the heatsink are cheap too im just using c channel aluminum. you get much more light for the same $ amount per fixture. right now i got 4x 344QB by HLG and my ebstrip light murders it for around the same price because there so many more eb diodes on the fixture. i dont mean to dickride bridgelux but i dont understand if the sammy love is legit or hype. does anyone know a rough % of how much more efficient the Sammys are over eb strips, i may be missing something here.

The efficiency is comparable at test currents - the big difference is the overall light levels. The B-lux are about half the price of the Sammies, but also half the lumens. So on a lumen per dollar basis, they are close to being equal, with a bit of an edge to the B-lux However, Samsung does offer a substantial discount (nearly 30%) for volume purchases, that you don't get with B-lux.

Edit: in fact - Arrow has a "new customer" special of 30% off on your first order - you can get 100 of the 22" Samsung strips for $625 - compare that to the Digikey single piece price of $15.85....
