Looking into growing

Ok so, i have never grown before and me and my roommate are looking into growing maybe 2-4 crops, every where i have read it says to use about 400 watt lights for up to 4 plants. But when i view this "newbie" page it seems most people are using 40 watts. And i cant seem to find anything on watering. how do u water? is it just the simple spray bottle and spray it a few times a day or is it more complex....... thanks for the help everyone

Water with a cup, bottle , watering jug,, anything that will hold liquid ..

haha ya for sure...... but i was speaking more about the whole hydroponics things where you have to put water to roots or something like that
