Looking for some general info about nutrient takeup.

I guess the individual strain/plant has it own needs, and it probably varies alot. But I'm curious to how much in general a plant needs at its various stages of life. I've had a very organic approach to growing so far, using and making my own "compost" tea etc. I picked up some basic stuff along the road. Like feed it nitrogen during veg, add phosporus during flower. I know theres tons more. Like K and micro nutrients. But what they do, and how much of each, is considered normal. That is a place I haven't walked yet.

So. I don't know. But i tried to find out. I know a lot of people swear by Greenleaf Nutrients product MEGA CROP. and this is what happens if you put 45g of MEGA CROP in 10gal of water, as they suggest you do for vegetative plants. So i would guess that these PPMs are considered around average for veg. Again, this is just from an internet search i don't really know a lot about this either! I could be totally wrong.

Element
PPM calculation
Total Nitrogen (N)
118.8780
Phosphorous (P)
28.5323
Potassium (K)
143.0842
Magnesium (Mg)
22.5864
Calcium (Ca)
77.2692
Sulfur (S)
13.0765
Iron (Fe)
0.9511
Zinc (Zn)
1.3074
Boron (B)
0.9511
Manganese (Mn)
0.9511
Copper (Cu)
0.5943
Molybdenum (Mo)
0.1188
Silicon (Si)
1.1887
Total PPM 409.4995

That is false.

Try any complete veg formula from start to finish. You can over-complicate it if you'd like but I'd bet the farm your results will be worse.

Hey there. Sorry, just wrapping my head around the science. Trying to get a good grip on what the plant need at various stages in life. It was defenetly not meant as a statment on my part. To be blunt. I grow in soil. And it is a simple way that I enjoy. This thread is just me trying to learn about nutrients.

More P is what I hear people say. But more K? How much K can a plant handle before it gets toxic?
"Phosphorus toxicity is quite rare and generally, in excessive amounts, will begin to alter the absorption of copper and zinc - this can give the false impression of copper or zinc deficiencies that are both explained later."

"Rarely is potassium encountered in a toxic state, much like phosphorus. In an excessive state, potassium can interfere with magnesium, iron, zinc, and manganese uptake by plants - leading to the false assumption of a deficient state of these other nutrients."

A must read if your organic is “Teaming with Microbes” by Jeff Lowenfels and Wayne Lewis.

I discoverd those books couple days ago. Funny you should mention it. Thinking about ordering them. Looks like a good read. Thank you for recommending!
