Looking for some advice :)

With legalization here In Oregon, I figured now Is the time to finally do what I have wanted to do for so long and grow cannabis! legally! I have been smoking for as long as I can remember so i'm not a complete stranger to marijuana, but here is what I am having trouble with:

Just last week I purchased a 5 x 5 x 6.5 ft. tent, a decent light kit (Comes with both 1000w HPS & MH bulbs)

Now my problem being, I cannot pin point what ventilation fans to purchase, only dealing with 162.5 cubic feet I would assume I don't need anything large, even with the 25% or so to compensate for a filter. for obvious reasons I am going to run a intake, light cover, and exhaust fan. What are the cheapest more reliable ventilation systems people have used? This is my first grow, any comments and opinions are greatly appreciated as I feel like I'm in the 1st day of school thank you.

As you replied to this I was doing that exact thing, trying to find similar setups etc, I have a pretty solid understanding of what I need I guess I'm more or less looking for input on more affordable fans people have had success with, thanks for the quick reply

I would all ways go with a larger fan than you need just in case you decide to up - grade i have 2 x 600 h-p-s lights,and i run with a 12 " out let and a 8" inlet but still run cool hoods

It will make growing far better knowing that you will not have issues with heat,you also want a couple of oss = fans too,i have used a 6" out let and a 4" inlet with one light but to be honest sometimes temps was fine other days it was a hot box,
Because you said you are going to be useing a tent then the bigger the fans the better,

Once you buy this size fan you will find that it will deal with most home grows i have even run 6 x 600 h-p-s lights during winter with the 12" and the 8" inlet,i take the glass out of the cool hoods during winter,you might think that takeing glass out will not make any difference but it does,the glass does cut the lumans down a little,i have all ways got far better yeilds from bat wing hood's over any other.

I would also make a wooden brace two legs with a beam across the top to support the filter,i have had the filter give way once on my plants when hanging a large filter from the poles that come with the tents.

Right on, thanks for the reply and info!. Good heads up on the filter, that didn't cross my mind and could save you a huge problem. I have always considered getting bigger fans I just wasn't sure if there was ever a "Overkill" factor, then again with a controller that shouldn't be an issue with any size. Do you have a favorite? budget isn't to tight, I just don't wan't to drop another $300 on fans If I don't need to thanks!

Listen to tyke..because I basically bought that size smaller tent then yours (the width) and I regret it everyday...ALWAYS PURCHASE more then what's needed especially a big fan that 1000watter it's gonna be quite hot in that tent imo...

Where are you growing, your parents basement? It's legal right? All the stuff you are using is for stealth. Just hang the light and toss a seed. Have fun

It's mainly for discrete purposes with other people in the household, something that can be in a low traffic area of the house (garage, etc) I figured a good size tent is the safest and most controlled method.

Edit: Figured I would mention it's more out of respect, everybody is full aware of my intentions .

Would a good configuration be: Intake filter>intake fan>Light cover>carbon filter> exhaust instead of having unnecessary ducting? thanks!

Well since it's legal there, smell really isn't a problem. If you don't mind it, then ditch the carbon filter. Get a nice 6 or 8 inch exhaust fan. Also for the size of your room, a 1000 watt light will be not enough. You would be getting around 40 watts per square ft. A better, more efficient setup would be two 600 watters. You get better light distribution.
