Looking around b4 buying PLEASE

So im looking at different websites and what not and im looking at growing some magic mushrooms. what and where should i get the pores? and where should i get the growing kit. note this is my first mushroom grow and i do have good experience in gardening and MJ gardening.
 
Here's some info. Quick and easy. Just to get you going while you are reading up. Here are my less costly suggestions to get you going and out the door. If you are in a legal US spore state than go to http://www.sporefarmer.com/ use code "shroomery" for a discount (no"). The syringes come fast. They work. And the prices are nice (4 Syringe Potency Pack). Go to Amazon.com, get a pressure cooker ($20 - up). Some have free shipping. Get some mason jars half pint or pint from either amazon or even lowes or true value. Get some sythetic filter discs from here http://www.mycopath.com and anything else you feel that you need. Hit a local dollar store and purchase a generic or standard tote box that will fit your jars (for incubation). And go to a grocery store/dollar store and buy 1 or more pounds of yellow or white popcorn. Also some bleach and lysol disinfectant spray for area cleaning. Google search "popcorn tek" and/or go to shroomery and search easy popcorn tek. All this will cost you far less than a kit. And you will get things done quicker.

I got a kit from here http://www.midwestgrowkits.com/grow-kits.html . It works. But I could have brought everything seperate for alot cheaper. I even had most of the stuff laying around from my green grow.

I already planned on buying the simple kit at midwest, money isnt really the issue if its really coming with everything (equipment wise). If i do end up buying this kit what all do i need as far as pores? are syringes better or what other options should i go with when it comes to this kit?
 
Just get spores from the site I provided. The grow kits jars are fine. They are just tweeked brf cakes. They work well, and came sterilized. Out of 18 inoculated, I've only had one not show any movement, none showed any contamination. The only thing is they are just as slow as pf tek brf cakes. Time in this hobby is far more important than $. If anything. Just order, or prepare any grain type bags or jars. Do not use a kit that offers cakes. Brown rice flour or anything like that. You will be disappointed by the time it takes for them to fully colonize.
 
Money not an issue?
What is the goal, ie: what do you care about most?
In my case it was finding the fastest bestest myc, so I ordered dozens of needles from a couple of different suppliers.
That way I ignored they crappy ones (there were many) and cherry picked the best.
And no advertisement or forum post would have picked them!
 
For the price of a decent "grow kit" you can get multiple syringes from different sources. Buy jars, a pc, popcorn and a tote box or two, and still have $ to spare. And save more time than by using alot of the pre-sorted pf tek type jars like the ones they sell at mid-west grow kits. If you DIY you will save both time, and $.

Thanks. The only reason I advice for popcorn is if you're like me, in an area that doesn't have rye berries close by. They can be a little costly. And for just starting out. Processing wild bird seed can be a little problematic. So I figured. Popcorn fits in the niche.
 
I prefer Sporeworks, although I've recently ordered from Ralphster to try a few strains Sporeworks doesn't carry.

I would recommend Ecuador, but their Golden Teacher is nice too.

Roger R. is very knowlegable. Don't go with a kit, don't go in the wrong direction with PF tech, as I've said, it will teach you little about the mushroom cycles and growing parameters. Spend the time and do your research. Sporefarmer is ok but you would be best served early on by getting syringes that have more spores in them if you are doing multispore innoculations.
 
The funny thing is. I pulled the same exact move with the mid-west, then sporefarmer/sporeworks. All jars colonized/conlonizing and only one fail. And that fail isn't even contaminated. So. For myself. The combo works. You could just save more $ and even some time going a different route. What ever you decide on. Good luck. Later.
 
thanks for the help DaSprout ill probably end up staying with the plan for more of a learning lesson than anything quick question how many syringes did you need to get and how much were you yielding?
 
I ended up getting two specials of syringes. I was impatient. I got the grab bag from sporeworks. And I got the psychoactive combo from sporesfarmer. I've just been transferring the jars, one by one, to bulk. I am currently waiting for them to fully colonize.

huh???...you don't transfer the jars to bulk until they are colonized...I'd suggest about 3 months of reading until your eyes bleed at the shrooermy... http://www.shroomery.org/forums/index.php ...I read from June until Sept...all the while gathering up my bits and pieces ...mixed up 12 1/2 pint jars of BFR and noced 'em up after pasturization...at full colonization I realized ,unfortunatley, the jars had a shoulder so I went out got some hores-shit in the field nextdoor and went straight to bulk my first grow...if not for the months of reading I would have been scrambling for a solution to the shouldered jars...because I educated myself on as many aspects of the life cycle as I could before hand, the solution was already in my head...just how I got into the game...;))
