Little Worms?

I live in a cold climate and I have planted some seeds. Most came up but 1 didn't. When I checked as to why, I found little tiny worm, it was like a white hair from and old ladys head-- and no it wasn't mine...lol
I was wondering if anyone might know what this is? It was about the size of hair and app. 1/8 inch long. It did wiggle so I know it was alive. One crawled into the seed when I exposed it.

No, It was only in one container and we threw it outside. sorry. Besides I am not sure I have a camera good enough to take a pic of something that small.

They might be white worms aka pot worms. They are harmless to plants but will take out newly opened seeds. You see them in compost piles. You must have some fertile soil.

How do I get rid of them and where did they come from? This is my first grow and I used new potting soil
Not sure. I would guess they came in with your soil. I've never seen them take out seeds, personally. Your description sounds like pot worms... I just googled them and saw they will take out newly cracked seeds. I see them in compost piles though. I was told it is a sign that you have good compost.... not sure if that is true though. No university study, just gardener talk.

I would try a new brand of soil.... even better... start your seedlings in a peat mix instead, in a small pot... when it fills it out a little transplant it to your soil... if they are white worms they should not harm an established plant. peat mix should be fairly sterile and bug free. I like Fox Farms Light Warrior for a good peat mix.

It looks like a few people on another forum reported having them in a bag of ocean forest.
