Linen closet grow

Thinking about putting 3 plants in the top shelf of the linen closet . They can grow to about 1 meter before they would hit the top of the roof and probably not looking to grow any bigger then that. About ventilation , would I need anything special? I plan on running lights at night while i'm home and turning them off during the day when i'm away ( I'd prefer the opposite as I'm on solar power but my GF won't let me - paranoid about a fire )

Would ventilation be enough to just leave the closet door open a little or would I be better off to just cut a little hole in the gyp-board roof to let whatever heat to go out that way. I'm only using CFL.

If you are using CFL dont grown your plants much taller than 12 inches. Leaving the closet door open would allow light to leak in and upset the flower photoperiod.
Cutting a 4 inch hole and getting a 4 inch can fan for exhaust is going to work better

Honestly, I would just put a fan in there for venting, opening the door once or more a day when you look at them will be enough. CFLs don't get that hot. And to add on to Siddhartha's comment. Maximum plant size for CFLs is about 20 inches, after this point the buds with just be airy and stretched. Optimal would be around a foot tall, I keep mine around 15 inches, I also got a 19 inch plant.

Oh ok. So when they get to about 15-20 inches just top them so it'll stop growing up?

Plants will double in size when you switch the light cycle to 12/12

All you have to do is put them in smaller pots, then they can only get so big.
