Quick question; what type of light will cause a plant to grow faster in veg stage? I'm using cfl and my plant seems to grow terribly slow. like 3 months to get 18" tall

Yeah that is odd, and hard to say its the light because CFL's are used by many growers. More details will be needed....like how many watts K rating should be 5,000K + and enough Lumens to promote healthy growth. Also what grow method you using, and temps....?

I think you got some other issues going on besides light.

Indica, sativa, hybrid, lowrider, photoperiod or auto? What kind of substrate? There're so many factors ph of water, nutes and so on and on and on. Got photos?

Like a previous poster said, the slow growth could be due to a number of things. Might be the strain, inadequate nutrients/light/etc. As far as light goes, you want daylight bulbs with cfls, 5000-6500K, for veg, and lots of lumens. Most people usually use a lot of bulbs. I used to grow with cfls all the time, so glad I don't anymore though. I actually just grew out some autos under some cfls. Had the bulbs all tied up and stuff in my closet, was like a circus in there. I have this one big ass cfl bulb that I bought off of amazon, it works really well. Switching to a tent and hps ballast though was the best thing I ever did. Such a simple and neat work space. I love it.

Might not be the lights. If you put a new seedling into a large pot it will seem like forever before you see much greenery growing. Reason is that plants new to dirt first send out roots to keep the plant stable. After the roots reach the inside of the pot they will start to grow aboveground. So it is smart to first transplant into a small container. I use a 10-12 oz. solo cup to start seedlings and TP them into a 3/4 gallon pot and finally a 3 gallon pot to finish in.

Good luck, BigSteve.
