for vegatative growth how much light should a 4 by 5ft area have? Everyone always talks about hps and flowering but not veg. I have a 600hps for flowering if that makes a difference. My second question is should there be a fan on while the lights are off? If so should it be an exhaust fan or can an osilating fan be ok. Thanks for the help

2 x 4 bulb t5 set will do u fine for veg, but if u want a 400w+ mh or ceramic mh will be good for that area. More light the better.

U must have an exhaust fan and a fan blowing air around in the room. Doesn't have to be oscilatting but its recommended

is that 2 4ft bulbs or 2ft and 4 bulbs?

i use a 1000w switchable, so i can use the MH for veg, and the HPS for flowering. optimal lighting with a 1000w is a 4x4 ft. area. you can use more space with it but the remember "optimal". i got my 1000 watter in a 4x4 tent

I am using 804 watts right now with the 600, ballast, small osilating fan on the plants and an 8inch windtunnel fan. My girl parents pay the bills and I dont want to make it too high cuz they might wonder what the hell we are doing to use all that power. Can I put a boost fan at the end of the exhaust fan and just run that when the lights are off. I run the windtunnel from the carbon filter to the light to the fan and have to reduce it to 4" so I can put the hose up the chimney so can Will a 4" boost fan be enought to bring in fresh air when the lights are off?

Haha ur ina very similar situation as me with the electric bill. They well definetly notice tthe bill go up from a 600w and fans. So be careful

Yes the 4inch boost will supply enought air with the lights of but I would still put the exhaust fan ona timer and have it turn on once every hour or 2 (during lights off) to exchange air

i think the meter narcs would only really notice something with way more watts than that. i mean my tv and playstation have about that many. whos to say you just dont have a couple tv's or something. i would be concerned maybe around 2000 w

Were not talkin bout meter narcs. Talking about his gfs parents who pay the bill. They will notice the big increase.

oh my bad. ya caught me skimming. yes gf parents and inlaws(my case) are suspicious of everything i've learned. and a constant annoyance. if you havent thought of it, he has. not to scare you or anything. no be scared
