Lightproof Wall Suggestions?

I have been doing some research this morning, and i think that i am a wee bit stuck on an issue.

My flowering room is currently open to the entire grow room, as the lights are not on 12/12 yet. i have become a bit stuck on figuring out the best way to make a wall removable and lightproof at the same time.

quick facts:
  • 14 foot opening, 8 foot high that needs to be closed in (basically its a 4-wall room with one wall that isn't there).
  • wall needs to be lightproof, above all else.
  • wall needs to be easily removable for daily access to the entire room.
  • black plastic stapled to the ceiling and then rolling down isn't an option right now.

also, i cannot simply build the wall up on either side and add a door in the middle, as i want the whole wall to come down very easily.

any suggestions guys? i am leaning towards a blackout curtain on a track of some sorts, but im still not sure. even a sliding curtain with some black plastic on either side up top to block the light?

ideas are wonderful, as i'm going to go roll one and try to think about this some more while i make some pancakes, seems this coffee isn't agreeing with me this morning.

Trying to visualize. You could install sliding doors, but a rollup curtain seems easiest. Shower rod with black tarp? Why can't you hang from the ceiling?

You might try theese tarp zipper things. I didn't need it for a light-tight application but after installing it I think that would work for that. They're only 12 dollars and pretty strong/sturdy.

Rmax it. foil sided foam insulation board, around 8 bucks per 4'X8', 1/2" thick sheets. super lightweight an ultra lightproof. the one inch think kind is actually textured just like the inside of my reflectors. any home despot will have it.

thanks for all the quick replies guys! i think that i am going to try for a blackout curtain with a long dowel across the span of the 14' opening, and some plastic draped down on either side at the top.

wish i could take a picture for ya guys to see what i'm talking about, but i'm not REALLY growing marijuana, honest :p (insert paranoia here)

not to necro up a lost thread, but i wanted to just add some closure here and tell ya what i ended up with.

i found a drapery supplier in town (this guy actually sews them) and i got two pieces of metal track (looks like a downward-facing C on the side) and some plastic rollers to hang in it. simply screwed it to a 2x4 i installed on the ceiling and hung some lightproof drapery from it (that he also made).

all in all, for the $300 i spent i think that it turned out perfectly.
