lighting ?

i have a 600w ballast wondering if i could use a lower wattage bulb with it
or will it screw it up. I'm new to this so any help would be useful thanks for
your comments

ok it's a old ballast i had in the garage
just got a tent size of 2'*3' now i been
told that a 600w light would be to much
for this space.This ballast doesn't have a dimmer nob

You might need a air cooled reflector/cooltube and some good ventilation if you want to stick the 600 in that area.
