Hey everybody i was just wondering if you can use fluro lights that are used for aquariums and if so should i use a purple spectrum or white spectrum fluro my mate said he has one and i was curious if it will work/be good enough also please give me your opinion/directions on what lights should use that are not too expensive thanks

if you only have one .. it wont have enough light.. I recomend compact florecent lights... you can find them everywhere and they are cheap

One will likely not be sufficient, unless you supplement it with a secondary light source. Fluros don't penetrate very deeply (huhuh, "penetrate deeply", huhuh!) and you will find you plant(s) stretching for light.

Hey thanx for the info but im also need to know isnt only blue and red spectrum the main spectrum that is used in plant lighting? and if so will purple spectrum work at all? otherwise i would get a MH or HPS but since im quite young it would be awhile before i would have that sorta money also im quite interested in the products that have been mentioned in other threads that are made by stealth hydroponics i am quite fond of these hydro systems and they arnt overpriced can anyone else recommend any hydro systems ou there that they have or know of and if they are any good

i used some regular 4 ft florescent shop lights for veg but i replaced the bulbs with the plant and aquarium bulbs. now that i'm flowering i've add cfl's. you can get it all cheap a wal-mart

Well, sort of an inside joke. btdt has a thread in Toke n Talk about what teenagers say to give themselves away. You can be young, but maybe not 'quite young,' as long as you're at least 18 years old.
