Lighting question

I have newly sprouted seedlings would a1000 watt led at 36 inches away be far enough for them?

Sounds you're stumbled over some cheap am4zon lights (blurples) and now ask yourself, is it really possible to get better results as from HPS ... with such a cheap light?
No, it's not... so forget it!
You should look for the real power usage it's probably less than 300w.
Genuine full spectrum LED lamps have a white light, which is the "only" full spectrum! Blurples are pruned in some important areas. On Amazon you can also look for Quantumboard-kits, they indicate only the actual consumption and a 150w kit would blow such a cheap 1000w blurple(300w) out of the water simply because of it's effiency.
There are many other reasons that speak against such cheap blurple lights. Quality, durability, efficiency, warranty, post-sale support, aso. ...
These are just some of the reasons.
Do yourself a favor, read a few threads here about COB, QB's and LED strips and then make your decission.
Maybe you can do a DIY light or get a kit ready to assemble. All is better than a blurple!

This is what I got

Return it, mate. As fast as you can!!!

It's only a 360w light and by far not sufficient for eg. a 4x 4' tent. It may work okay above a 3x 3' but the spread is horrible. You'll get a hotspot in the center and dark area's at sides and corners.

Do what @nfhiggs has suggested! An HLG260-kit sqeeze out twice as much light, consumes only 280w on the wall and costs about the same!!! It lasts at least 5-7years, while the Mars one will have the first burned out diodes within the first few month.
Trust us, this are not only Mars hater allegations, it has been confirmed in many tests!
I myself had 2 Mars300 (the little brother, true 180w) 5 or 6 years ago and sold it just 2 weeks later and built my own with 2nd generation Bridgelux Vero29 COB's!
COB's, LED strips an discrete diodes have dramatically improved since then! The Mars thingy's still use the same old inefficient and cheap diodes. No improvements in over 5 years, lol! Spend your money on a quality light.

And finally a few tips:
- Timber Growlights if you like COB's,
- HorticultureLightningGroop if you like Quantumboards,
- latest generation Bridgelux, Luminous COB's + heatsinks + driver from cobkits,
- or Samsung's LED Stripes(F or Q-Series) from digikey + driver, if you believe you can do a DIY!

My area is a 2by2 and 40 inches high they are all lowryder genetics so they stay under 20 inches thank you for your suggestions and I will do as u said thank all of you for your replys

For a 2x 2' area you only need a Quantumboard 135w-kit. I strongly recommend the new QB288v2, it is brandnew, up-to 11% better than v1 and for sure one of the most efficient growlight currently on the market!

This one is enough for up to 2x 3' and perfect for a 2x 2' area:

Ill go out on a limb here, and arbitrarily declare, that nobody, not one single human, has ever had buyers remorse over a QB purchase. Ever. Never ever.
Not one time.

To proper illuminate the walls..? Also the veg setting has much too much blue and cause strange growth. Trust me, this light is worth nothing.
Maybe their(Mars) newest one which has a hard driven Cree CXA3590 and a few mono's, but with 2,0μMol/j it's not very efficient. System effiency is even lower, maybe 1,8μMol/j. The old ones are maybe 1,5-1,6μMol/j or less.

Cheap F- or EBgen2 strips running at nominal current are 2,5 and 2,3μMol/j sys. eff and the new Quantumboard v2 has ~2,5μMol/j system effiency!
That means around 40% more usable light for the same wattage compared to the best Mars light. And against the old Mars reflector mentioned here it's even more, +50% more light per watt for sure.

We all made this mistake at first(at least I did 5 years ago)because we did not know it any better. But today, the LED growlights has developed so far that anyone looking to invest some time in search should find a good light.

Make sure that the manufacturer gives the actual PPF value or at least some PAR maps at different heights (not PPFD spot measurements), then there is a good chance that you will get a decent light. Only with this value can you calculate the average PPFD on your area.
