how many lumins would i need for a 4X2X5 grow tent? i was ganna use about 18,000 or so

You want 50-70 watts per sq.ft. So in your case, a 400 watt would be best. Your going to need to need a decent fan and AC hood to keep temps down.

Yep, I agree with Legal, I have a 400 in a 4x2 space also.
You can get by without the A/C though. Air cool the light and run lights at night.

i think he means AC hood = Air Cooled hood

Yep. I am a BIG fan of a/c though. Climate is everything!

I agree, 400watt HPS.... these are fairly cheap and very effective for small grows.

OR... If i was buying lights right now, I would buy a magnetic HPS ballast and a ceramic metal halide bulb. I have been drooling when looking at the UV and light spectrum of those things. AND the bulbs are cheap.

Yep, Thats what I am running. Phillips Ceramic Metal Halide on a Hydrofarm HPS magnetic ballast.
I did a comparison grow with a HPS and got more trichomes. Makes for better pictures too.


(missed that AC meaning air cooled. Duh!)
