Lighting question

I'm a first time grower so am learning on the fly but my plants of five weeks look pretty good. They are a healthy green with nice thick stems and alot of large leaves.

I slightly overfed them in the earlier stages so there are some small spots on some of the older leaves on some of the plants but they have recovered nicely. At this time the only issue is with a couple of them, whose leaves are drooping down slightly from their long stems. The others don't display this look, with the leaves standing outward.

After using 200 watts of flourescents on them, (24 hrs a day) the bulb broke and I had to replace it with my light that i was going to use for flowering. So right now, with 1-2 weeks of veg stage left, I'm having to use my 1000 watt hps light. My question is, will this hurt or have any negative effect on my yield?

it will make them longer and stringier during veg phase. i think it is better having the hps than the cfls on them at this point.

So it will not affect bud production, if at all maybe increase it when I begin to flower?

I have a question can mh be used through the whole cycle? As I only have a 400w MH at the moment I also have 2 25w aqarium twists with the red spectrum on the plants which have not died! 1st grow and do not know much the remaining plants are healthy and green with large colas on top and afew small buds around the stalk.Also I have heard that sunmaster makes a high conversion bulb with a full red spectrum & wil this cure my problem as I do not have much money & this is a hobby! Plants are 2.5 ft tall & spindly as the stalks are not very thick 6to 8mm. Grow time is now 8wks.

yes it CAN but it will not produce very great buds at all, at the least get you're conversion bulb.

Baked: I would hope you'd be fine, iof they are 12 inches tall i would go ahead and 12/12 it, if not you should probobly be ok. not much you can do if it's all you got

Yes, a MH lamp will grow great plants with great buds! Put that 400w on your plants from now on. Don't worry about a conversion bulb, they have fewer lumens.

Just wanted to know if it could be done(MH only that is)that crack about the high conversion bulb was a serious question and I was asking for infromation from people who can help and not hinder my progress!I wish him the best in his future endevours! I know the plants need red spectrum in the bloom phase and wondered if the 400w H.Con bulb would give me enough as I know the standard MH gives off alot of blue.Thanks again russOR! Hey norton, I didn't notice anyone sending you any shit, and we answered your question. Yes, a MH only will be great all the way thru. What do you think we used before they made the sodium lamp for consumers?

And I said the conversion lamp has fewer lumens, and it's expensive.

Let me start by saying I wasnt trying to dis you sorry! But I couldnt understand why U would tell me its not a better light s plants are flowering(see gallery) and were not doing as well as to b expected. The question on the HCbulb was to see if this would help the problem.I know they need the red spectrum during this phase I am woried I might be harming their growth as a result! Just figured out the mites are trying to take over my little plan so that is a much bigger problem!I must also say thank you! As obvioisly I did not give you enough infromation wish me luck?!? As I dont know what I am going to do with these little buggers!

The High Intinsity Discharge way
High Presure Sodium is the best for flowering and should be used, Conversion bulb will waste energy but is the right spectrum, Metal Halide should be used for just growth. Theres a reason for the "consumer release" of HPS lighting and companys like Hordelux making enhanced spectrum versions of them. If you must use a conversion, I sugest a HPS balast with a MH conversion bulb.

If you can only afford 1 HID light get the HPS. You can veg with Compact Floresent Lighting (CFL) better than you can Bud with a Metal Hallide.

Hey 420 I bought a 400w MH 4 50$ put some clones in and now they look like they could use some more red!!I know tey are in really small pot as space is a factor but my bud is keeping the mother alive (SHE IS FUCKING HUGE 1.5 YRS)all I have done is reading so far and this is my first set of actual plants so as a concerned parent I am searching every avenue!What I wanted was to know if this might help their growth?Like I said inexperianced & the best part is now I have mites,FUCK I KNEW IT WAS A JOB BUT WHO NEW A LIFELONG OBSESSION WOULD FEEL LIKE HAVING KIDS AGAIN!!PS NOTHIN AGAINS KIDS BUTTHIS SHIT ISSERIOUS WORK IF NOT DONE PORPERLY!!

And I guess tht is my point if everyone could do it they probably would!HEHE! I always try to get it right the first time!Guess I should have read more when I started this venture eh! It will take you a few grows to get it right. Experiance is the key and you dont have it yet. $50 for a MH good deal was it used? Anyhow just keep doin what your doin, read up and ask questions when you get stuck youll get it down to an art. O and yes they are just like kids, if not worse. You can allways make the wife give the bottle or change dipers but rarly trust anyone but yourself with your girls ferts or PH balance.
