lighting question

so
im getting ready for my first grow
im only going to be growing one plant

iv got just about everything but the lights

i need to know how many watts i will need for a single plant in a small area.
thnks in advance

btw i will be using floros if that makes any diff.
 
for just 1 plant i'd say go with cfl's...you'll need at least 3 with the highest wattage you can find...and make sure they are 6500K daylight's...you'll be needing those for vegging...and then when you flower switch to the 2700K bulbs...flouro's are ok to use but you'll need at least a double light system...i chose cfl's cause they are easier to mount for an easy setup, currently i just went from 4 cfl's to 7, and i'm only growing 1 plant, i have them in a pyamid setup, where i have 3 on top and the other 4 around the plant to provide light at ALL the plant...the more light the better.
 
Yes for 1 plant CFL's will work just fine. But remember it's always better to start a few plants since your chance of a female is 50/50.

yes very true...i'm just doing 1 just to get the hang of starting from seed...i've always started from clones so...

So far i'm impressed with these little cfl's i'm getting awsome results so far...but i'm still leaning on using a HPS for flowering just cause i know i'll get better results...but then again...maybe i'll just use the cfl's and see how well it does...i've read so many mixed results...so...i'll keep updated
 
If a few is all your growing you could veg with the CFL's and then move onto a 175 or 250 watt HPS. The thing with HPS is you will yeild more and get more fluffy buds.

i have both MH and HPS...just haven't used them in a few years...and i'm just grwoing 1 plant for now...when i start to grow more then i will use the other setups...i just wanted to try with these cfl's for my first seed grow
 
Lol....not for 1 plant...overkill...there powerful lights...and they won't fit in my closet...once i move into my house i will be using them...like i said..it's just an experiment...i have never grown from seed before...always clones...so it's new to me the whole vegging stage...i wanna make sure i have it down before i go bigger.
 
word up. ive seen people use clf all the time on these forums, it definately works but ive heard everyone say HPS for flower so i dont know. experiment on!
 
thx...i have heard too many mixed comments so i'll just see for myself...i just think that people growing with cfl's just don't use enough of them or even have the right spectrum
 
yeah, from what i have read and seen you need a shitload of them for flowering. i think everyone is taking the low cost to a new level and just not buying or using enough of them.
