Lighting Question

Okay so I just heard the other day from some random hippy dude that if you put CD's in along with your flouro's, you can increase the color spectrum. I've been trying to find stuff on it, but I myself have been having crappy luck... Anyone know if it will add new colors to your spectrum? I mean, they are kinda prismatic in a way... Theory is fairly sound, but is it practical?

i second this question...i've never heard of this before but if this did work (hypothetically) then it would be awesome to just use bulbs of the two opposite sides of the spectrum (2700K and 6500K) and use the cd's to mix in all the other spectrums without having to buy the bulbs for all extra spectrums.

anyone ever try this? any luck?

haha u might get some reflection off ur cd and it wont do much if anything might even burn ur plants like using foil instead of mylar..it wont make much of a difference so do whatever

the spectrum of light you get comes from your light source, not materials that reflect or refract it.

This theory is not sound.

Shine a white light through a prism, and you'll get a rainbow spectrum (white light is composed of all colors)
Shine a red light (red filtered), and only red will shine through the prism.
