alright well as u can probally tell by my thread question this is my first grow. i have a question with what lights to use i bought 2 flourescent lights from my sisters boyfriend he used them and his plants were like 5 ft tall. there both 40 watt one is eco and one is eco/plant i have been looking around and see no one using lights like this thats y i was wondering if they will work for 1-3 plants. thanks for the help

o and i also have started the plants there about 2 weeks old and a couple inches tall one has 6 leaves one has 8 leaves, they keep getting new leaves but not any taller is this normal the light is probbally around 3 inches from the plants. thanks

yes you can use flourescent as long as their the right spectrum 6500k for vegetative stage and 2700k for flowering make sure you keep the floro's 1-2 inches away from the plant ( as close as you can get to the plant without burning it ) and as far as your plants getting new set of leaves without gaining too much height that is a good thing to have them compact the closer the nodes( space on main stem between each set of leaves) the better

Your gonna want to at least double your light during flowering

Put a fan on it to fatten up that stem

Hope this helps

i was planning on putting a fan in there i had it in there for a couple of days when it was hot should i always have the fan on or is it alright to plug it in to my timer and have the fan only on when the light is on? thanks for the help and with the bigger lights do you mean more of just more powerful flourescent lights i would like to keep it as cheap as possible for right now. can they make it with just those lights or do they need something better when they flower? thanks for the help you have no idea how much it is apricated lol

sorry man had to go to the grocery store. Ok you want an oscilating fan in there on all the time to simulate the wind that we have outside all the time this will help your stalk get bigger and stronger which is exactly what you want. you will also need to keep fresh air moving through the room, box, closet whatever you got so you'll need an exhaust fan and a intake fan( lot of people use pc fans, squirell cage fans, whatever works for ya ) my 1 plant grow is so small that I just use an intake fan and it pushes fresh air in and old hot stale air out of a small opening up top.Now if your low on money and can only afford fluorescent lights go out to home depot, wal-mart, where ever you go and pick up as many 42watt 2700k CFL's as possible when comes time to flower. The CFL's are the twisty fluorescent bulbs ( energy saving bulbs ) they will be with the regular light bulbs and surround your plant with these and keep them close as possible without burning your plant ( 1-2 inches ) No problem man, enjoyed helpingPeaceK-town

hey once again thanks for the help the fan will be going back in the room tonight as for intake/ exhaust fan i cant do anything there. they are in a little attic but i do leave the door open and my windows open during the day but thats the best it can get. for the lights ill buy a couple to put around them but should i also keep the floursescents above them to help them? and i started the plants on 12/12 should i give them some more dark time or should i just leace them? thanks man

yeah keep all the light you can on them. I got a four foot double fluorescent ( each bulb 40watts ) shoplight 2700k and 3 42watt 2700k Cfl's above my one plant and if I didn't run out of plugs I would go ahead and hook up the rest of my 6500k Cfl's ( for vegetative stage ) too but I ran out of plugs. Also with fluorescents the light penetration is poor so you want to FLOWER your plant around 6-8 inches as to make sure your whole plant can receive light if yo let it get to big then the lights will not cover the whole plant and you got a lot of wasted plant and time Hope this help ya and good luck on the grow man Any more Q's just askPeaceK-town

alright so basically i should give them like 14 hours of dark till there 6-8 inches is that correct? and the double four footers is what i have just to let u know. thanks

no keep them on 18-6 or 24-0 till they get about 6-8 inches then switch to 12-12 to start flowering them

If you wait much longer than 6-8 inches theres a good chance your light be not be able to cover the whole plant so you would be wasting time and electricicty

Correct 24-0 means 24 hrs. light and 0 hrs. dark, 18/6 means 18 hrs. light and 6 hrs. dark and etc.

Welcome man
