Lighting help

I am a little new to this so any help is always appriated. I am using two 4ft 40 watt, 3050 Lumens, 6500k Flourescents, and 5 13w 800 lumens, cfls, and 1 35 watt, 1600 lumens, cfl. Is this enough to grow?

im using 4 4ft floro's for a total of 7600 lumens and having decent results but im only doing two plants.

4(40w) + 5(13)w + 35w = 260w of light

250watts can supply enough light for a 2.5x2.5 foot room and about 6 plants. Clearly, you're not using the BEST lights but if you're growing under six plants I think you should be alright. If your grow space is bigger than what's above, get some tin foil or white wall and "reduce" the size of the room.

tin foil are you kidding me. that stuff should be banned from growing everywhere! if your going all out with flouros might as well get some mylar off ebay. your better off paiting walls flat white if you cant afford mylar

Why should tin foil be banned from growing rooms everywhere? If it's a temperature issue you're thinking of then, yea, you can't be crazy and cover all the walls with tinfoil but you're not gonna have a temp spike or any hot spots.

If it's something else, let me/us know.

i used 40watt aquarium/plant tubes, and it had done pretty good through out my grow.

no no no . get the 6500k daylight full spectrum ones by GE or any other brand. get a backup set too just in case. T8 are your best bet unless you want to go all out and get some t5s . and about the tin foil. yes it does cause hot spots unless evened out when taped up. and yes it does cause temp increase. considering ITS FOR FUCKING BAKING! , you tryin to bake yer buds or grow em ?

The reason not to use tin foil is not because of heat spots...but because of reflectivity. Tin foil reflects a fraction of what mylar does...Flat white paint I am not sure about...but tin foil reflects no more than 88% (and that is the best tin foil you can get anywhere, and you do not get that at wally world), while mylar is 90 something easy. That is the only reason not to use tin foil. Anyways...the closer you get to 10,000 lumens per square foot the better you will be. Taking into account the type of light you have and the distance the light is from the plant...the type of plant...it gets complicated. Start your grow and find out if you have enough. You will know if it is or not by how your plants are growing along. You will undoubtedly change a lot during and for your next grow. It is a learning experience for sure and very rewarding.

Edit: I should be clearer about the tin foil. Your average tin foil will reflect half of what mylar will, even with folds and bends. Hot spots are an issue if you are already running hot, which would be anything over 90 degrees F. You would probably spend just as much on white paint or mylar as you would the same amount of foil it takes to line a room.
