Hey! I'm just starting out so I'm very green ;) Pun intended lol Could someone tell me the difference between T5 and T8 lights?
Also I'm growing in a room that is not temp controlled. Do u put thermometers under the lights or just in the room? I think I'm safe weather wise right now because I live in a really good climate, but will have to do something soon for winter coming.
Thanks for your help!

T5 are more energy efficient, smaller in diameter more out put than T8.

For a thermometer you dont wanna put it under the light, you want it getting the ambient temp not the radiant heat the lamps put off ( fluorescent put off very little)
So in a place where light doesnt really get to it, like on a wall. or if youre using a tent, just the tent walls work, thats how I have mine.
I have a thermometer that is n indoor/outdoor, I put the outdoor probe on the tent wall, and the indoor in between my buckets

If winter is coming get a 250 watt HID and itll keep it nice and warm in there too
if you get cold temps where you live.

Hope I answered your questions. if you have anymore ask (:

Do you think I should return the T8 if doesnt have adequite output? I have a space heater in the grow room, whats best?, heater or adding more lights in the grow room? Thank you!!

theres a 10°C (18°F) difference in running temps on these lights,
T5 lamps are operated at 35°C (95°F) compared to T8 and T12 lamps, which are operated at 25°C(77°F).

T5 HO lamps deliver more light than standard T5 lamps and are available in higher wattages.

t8 lights will work just fine, they are best for clones and seedling though, A space heater will draw the same or more power than a 250watt. youll have to check the specs on the heater,
