If i switch my lights from Mh (after two weeks) to Hps for two weeks will this affect the growth in a negative way? Ive been on a 24/24 cycle for 17 days with a Mh 400w and id like to switch to Hps 400w for 2 weeks, will this do any damage or slow growth. I have a Digital ballist and both bulbs so i was wondering if i could use both, at different times in the vegg. stage. pic's below are of the girls after 17 days under 400w Mh 24/24.

No, you're more than fine!

Some growers actually prefer to use HPS from start to finish. It is definitely the #1 light to use for flower, but it's completely optional what you want to do during veg phase. There have been studies showing more effecient vegetative growth when using MH. Then I have also heard from those who swear to HPS only that you will get tighter internodal length on your plants when used all the way through, which is always a desirable trait to achieve. I say use the equipment that you have and enjoy experimenting!

It's all about testing the waters n finding what works best for you! Nobody will get a grow to it's 100% potential right away.

One love! =)

I believe the hps will stretch your plant a little more. should just wait till flowering to switch. To make the most out of the kind of light it produces.

what makes you think you should switch to HPS in the first place ?

also, those leaves look "wide". what is the relative humidity in that grow box ????

I agree with Serious. I have used both for veg, and a nice high kelvin mh (hortilux blue) gives maximum growth
while keeping the plants compact and giving more node sites.

You can get as good of a grow using 20/4 lighting. In fact, some of the breeders, especially with automatics, recommend 20/4. I don't know if you know about him, but Uncle Ben is a very respected grower and he uses 20/4 lighting for his grows.

It's for veg for regular plants, but from start to finish for automatics. I was responding to his statement about 24/24 cycle for 17 days.
