I have a 400 HPS floralux I am trying to set up. It is not fan cooled it just has vents and it has attached balace. The guy where I bought it suggested taking out the safty glass to let heat excape. I am running a mutidirectional 3 blade fan so I can aim one of the blades right at the lighting. I was curiouse as to any safty issues if I take out the glass like was suggested to me. I am planning on a SoG type method so I plan on keeping them small basicly clone to flowering so I am not worried about the plant getting to close to the light just worried about burning my house down sould I be okay or leave the glass on.

Can You Get A Smaller Fan Just For The Light, You Know Aim It Right At Light? I Think That Should Keep It Cool, Im About To Buy A New 400w My Self, But I Dont Want The Attached Ballast, So I Can Use A Forced Air Flow Vent Cooling Hood.

Yea I was thinking that, sould I aim it down at the light from top or take out glass and point fan right at light so the air goes up out the vent?

well i would leave glass in for safety, but if you did remove it, i would think it would cool it down more, and i would aim the fan up at light from below, heat rises,

i have a 400watter it does not have glass never did wasn't made to have it, i think ass long as you raise it up if you happen to mist your plants it will be ok it a drop of water hits a hot bulb boom goes your bulb ive also heard many ppl break the glass by accident and still use it without
