Light mover or more lights?

Ok so my flower room is 10'x11'x8' and i am currently running 4 x 1000 watt lumatek digital hps lights contained in two 6' cool tubes. I am considering adding light movers to each of the tubes and having them start at opposite sides of the room and move towards each other untill they reach opposite sides again. I talked to a friend who said that light movers use too much electricty and produce too little benefit and that i would be better off buying 2 metal halide lights for the dual spectrum effect. What say you RIU

How can a simple electric motor in a light-mover draw more power than 2 massive arch bulbs? I would take a lot of your friend's advice with a grain of salt. I would go the light-mover route, however I get nervous looking at grow rooms using cooltubes and ducting with light-movers.

We use em but not on cool tubes,,,,,

But i'd get nervous moving cool tube,

Hey Iscrog

I bought a light rail and 600 watt hps and designed an 8' x 3' garden around them - 25 watts per square foot instead of the 50 watts per square foot that I was using with my 1000 watt hps. I found that I not only increased my yield per watt but also my yield per square foot, even though I increased my garden area and reduced my over all wattage.

I'm a believer in a moving light source: mimics nature; periods of intense light; light from more angles.

Let me know if you decide to go the light-mover route with cool tubes. I would be interested in seeing how it turns out. Personally, I am just going with six air-cooled 600W lights in three rows of three myself. They will be covering a 10' X 10' grow area, so only 36 watts per square foot.
