light hight?

I just finshed my grow room and a wanna run a 1000w light but i only have 5 1/2 feet of hight 9 feet long and 6 feet wide . Can someone help me with picking the right grow setup, hydro or dirt but i would like to do it in water. thanks

start in soil if you are learning or it may be a disaster

i was thinking S.O.G in dirt is my only option

you could do either a S.O.G or a SCROG in my opinion. But i would definatly start in soil if this is your first grow. are you starting with seeds or clones?

clones, i just just pulled my mother plants from outside. i just wanted to see if they are female and they are so i put them back under 24 h of light to flip them back

why run a 1000 , 2 would be better or you could even drop to 2 600. i dont think youll get enough with just 1 1000. id do 2 600 or even 3 400's considering your heigth restriction. good luck. coverage , thats what you wont get enough of... lol im going to smoke another now.

400watt = 3x3, 600 watt = 4x4, 1000 = 5x5 erea. but you only have 5.5 feet of high so anything bigger than a 400 i would think would get to hot unless you have ac.
i have a 450 cfm fan on my 430 watt hps and my room is 4x3 and 7 foot tall and i have heat issuse

I got thinking about 2-600w air cooled in a S.O.G style and putting the plants into 12/12 as soon as the clones get a good 7-8" and cross my fingers the plants dont get too high!

This sounds like my setup, I run a 1000w at 5 1/2 ft. But myspace is 3x4 feet. Having an air cooled ventilation is very important. When running the HPS,the temps in the tent are around 81 degrees. The MH was cooler. You may have to control there height by topping, someone on here recommended Humbolts own Bush master so I use that also. Im in soil. You can do it!

a 1000 watt is meant to ligh up a 5x5 erea. your way to far away from your plants. you will get way more bud if you seal with that

for your heigth. i have mine 18 inches from plants and its 79f. If you add that to the heigth of the light you looking at about 3 1/2' max for your plants. i definately feel you would be better off with 2 600's unless your wanting a very dense SOG ( a bunch of 3' colas), man, if you can get a handle on the temp. 2 x 1000 would give you some excellant coverage. You would have some very nice, dense flowers. veg for a week or 2 max, then straight to flower, ohhhhhhhhhhhhh nice turn around too. heres a couple pics. make sure your fan is in a sucking position, that way instead of leaks you have little vacumn hole. My fan pushes only 3' through ducting to the filter box(this part air tight with clamps) , then outside i have a 4" 170cfm cooling 2 x 1000. You might go to a 6" with a little more cfm. Use insulated ducting. and 1 pic of homemade bubbler cloner.

I use a 8in inline fan attached to my hid to cool the bulb which blows only the warm air out the room and on top of the tent I use a vortex 6in to suck the hot air out. Everything is air tight. Its like I vacuum seal my product before its even done. lol I like the way "halzey68" has connected his ducting together!
