Light help plz

I have t lights being used to grow right now. A 4ft/54w and a 2ft/24w. Using light shields. My plants d pont really seem to be reaching for them. Just wondering how far from the plants I should have them. Their about 8 to 10 inches away right now.

you have "t" lights? T what? 5? 8? 12? well if they are reaching then its too far but without knowing what bulbs you have or even fixture cant help

okay well since they are probably your regular everyday florescent bulbs get them 3-6 inches away. re pot your plants since they stretched. good luck

Firsttimehydrogrower: I'd suggest you check the instructions that came with your fixtures or possibly email or call their customer service number and ask them. I have two different brands and they both recommended the same distances: 6" to 1' but I always set mine to the closer 6". I have gone closer, as close as two to three inches by accident without any problem but that should depend on what strain you're growing. I've come home and found that my babies sprang up to within two to three inches from the lights but if you have plenty of ventilation and you keep an eye on them you should be okay. You don't want your topical buds growing into the lamps and frying them. That can happen.

The 'back of the hand rule' is good too. Set your lights and hold your hand at the same height as the tops of your hands, back of your hand side up. If it feels uncomfortably warm raise them other wise you should be okay, I hope that helps. HSA

If you are already planting in soil switching to hydro is not good for the plants. If you're using soil then just get a bigger pot but dirt in the bottom place plant inside then cover with more soil.

heres my plants. i had to cut off the fanleafs from the first 2 nodes about 2 weeks ago. maybe alittle longer. but these plants are 2 months old if not more.

Firsttimehydrogrower: you're making some interesting comments and asking some bizarre questions. I would suggest you RTFB. I wish there was an easier way, but from what you ask, I’d suggest the following:
1. Read: SeeMoreBud’s book, “MARIJUANA BUDS FOR LESS- GROW 8 OZ. OF BUDS FOR LESS THAN $100.”
2. Read: Jorge Cervantes’s book, “MARIJUANA HORTICULTURE THE INDOOR/OUTDOOR MEDICAL GROWER’S BIBLE.”
3. Read: Ed Rosenthal’s, “MARIJUANA GROWER’S HANDBOOK.”
4. You’ll also want to read: Mc Carthy’s book, “GROWING MARIJUANA.”
5. You should also subscribe to, “HIGH TIMES,” magazine. Each issue is chocked full of useful information. .” All these resources are very well written, well illustrated and packed with information that will answer most of your questions before you know to ask them. And I want to add a new book to the list, a 6[SUP]th[/SUP] one: “THE CANNABIS GROW BIBLE- SECOND EDITION,” written by Greg Green. It’s a match to, if not better than, the ones listed above. Doing your homework and consulting these resources will save you and your plants a lot of anxiety before you plant. I hope this helps.
