Light cycle

hey guys,

This is my second post and things have definitely turned around. All the nutes and ppm’s are correct and I've stopped overwatering. So, my question is... Now that I finally have the plants in a position to veg and grow, should I go to just 24 hour lights on or keep it 6:18? I have heard varying things about whether it will work, maybe I'll just have to test and see how they respond. I'm on week 4 (give or take a day or two) so far and this is my first grow. I have a recirculating drip system that I run on intervals depending how fast it dries out. The medium is ”black magic” coco / perlite. I am also using their fertilizer parts A,B, and Bloom (all accordingly) and am running really light notes at 330 ppm ish and ph at 5.6. I started these from seeds that I found in one of my orders. The strain is fruit haze and Is a sativa. I know that one of them is definetly a runt with the 3 leave mutation, but I’ve only got 6 seeds and am gong with it. I know that the weakest link can be more at risk of root rot and since my system is recirculating, I have started using hydro guard with the first week being this one. I also (embrace creative thinking??) have anew fish tank filter running in the resivoir to filter out any organic material and or runoff.

That’s about it, I am open to any and all constructive criticism or advice. This is my first time and I’m just looking to enjoy it.

The SCROG is not needed yet. Don't post pics with grow lights. Plants look good. Your PPM is good for starting out. You'll want to gradually raise it. Keep doing small steps and you'll be good.

Id bet your in ther ten times a day. Id forget about any drip tubes and hand water, with a syringe...i mean your in there enough right? Then, when the plants snap out of over water, in a week, theyll be alright. Really those lil gals could still be under a dome w a capfull of water a day if you can retain it.

He hit it on the nose . I remember your other post . I told you last week to slow the drip system up because of overwatering but removing is highly recommended if you want to save them . So I'm the type of grower that thought 24hours of light would make my plants grow faster but I was so fucking wrong . So yes your plants can sleep with the lights on .for instance sometimes thru out the day when you see your plants leaves pointing up and sometimes they pointing downwards(sleep). So after a month I said to myself I bet my plants would sleep better with light off. Just like humans. So I tried it and they do sleep better with lights off especially on a schedule to goto sleep the same time everyday just like a kid. And the plants adapt and adjust so after a while they start to sleep rite before lights and wake up rite before light . And I want to personally tell you that it's nothing better than seeing your plants standing straight up when lights comes on. I'll never do a 24hour cycle ever again and stress my plants like that . So let your plants get some sleep and put them on a consistent light cycle with the same time everyday and they will grow much faster. I also noticed it's hard going into flower for new growers.when you plants on 24hour cycle you probably open tent and watch them every chance you get and then when you go into flower it'll be hard to not open the tent. So do 18/6 but if you are on 24hrs then maybe start with 20/4 and then go-to 18/6 and get them use to a light cycle young because they're easier to train
good luck

I still have them on 18-6, like I have since they sprouted, so I’ll keep it at that. I was just curious if people had had good or bad experiences. i have completely durned of the drip and am only watering once the medium has dried out. You guys totally guessed it too, I’m in there a bit, but I think its all headed in a better direction so I’ll get back in a week or so (assuming nothing goes wrong :)) Do you guys have any advice on what I should shoot to have my ppm as, as they grow? I’ve got it now between 300-350 and just want to know what is a general estimate for various parts of the growth. Thanks all so much, I am really appreciating the feedback!

I use the method of if the plants doesn't have any deficiencies then let them grow. But I feed lightly my entire grow and recommend staying around 350ppm and gradually move to 450ppm then 550ppm and on and on but don't raise ppm from 350 until they are about 6weeks from seed. Some ppl feed heavy and raise ppm each feeding going from 5ml to 7ml then 9ml etc etc. But there's alot of ways just find which one your plants like best and keep notes so you can back track if nutrient burn happen

Great! I have been picking up on a common thread from all of these bits of feedback, “if its not broken, don’t fix it”. I’ll definetly get over the rookie hype and maybe then these can grow... :) I also have been keeping a grow journal on what I’m doing, timelines, and info on how each plant Is doing.

Hey guys, just had another quick question along with an update. I have been hand feeding these plants every 2-3 days or so (whenever the coco dries out enough) with a solution at 350 ppm still. They are definitely improving, however I have noticed that some of the leaves on one of my plants (first picture) are cupping up and or down. I looked at other threads regarding similar symptoms and I’m not sure which it may be givin my circumstances. I watered today so that it could get out any residual nutrients. What comes to mind for me is a lack of calcium and magnesium?? I know that sometimes people have issues w/ coco and have to supliment with cal mag. I would love peoples opinion.
