Light Cycle question

Hello, this is my first post on this board, I have spent hours upon hours reading all the different threads here. This is a great place!!!!

I have a couple of questions regarding my current setup in regards to light cycles.

I am a complete grow newbie. This will be my first time. I have 2 rooms setup now. one veg room and 1 flowering room. The veg room is going to be using 4 FL 4' tubes. They are 6500kevlin tubes that produce around 3200 lumens (12800 lumens total in this room). The other room will be for flowering and will be using a 400 watt HPS.

First question is will the veg room lights be enough to produce some good quality plants?

I have 2 seedlings about a week old now growing under 24 hours of light. I just found some more seeds and started to germinate them as well. In another week or so once the first 2 plants get bigger I need to change the light cycle from 24/0 to 18/6? Will this effect the little seeds germinating?

Basically I want to use my veg room for germinating starting off seeds/clones, and housing the mother plant (If get one! and dont kill them all!) What is the best light cycle to use for housing those 3 types (from my past readings, I was going to go with 18/6 full time in that room)?

Thanks in advance,

i would go 24 hour in the veg room cause the clones and the mother plant will like it and they will do better then specialy when you running the cfls

18/6 or 24. stick with one or the other. 24h will add a little more growth in veg and dont need darkness to do so. works good when you dont have an extra timer hady. usually people determine the veg photoperiod by the amount watts and heat dispersed. at 3200 lumens you should leave them at 24h unless you want to save electricity(which would not be much at all). the seeds/clones germinating can be on a shelf with a small fL to maximize floor space for you sexy mother and all of her daughters. also, seeds lying around may be more trouble then they're worth for strains need to be stablized. but you go with what you can get safely. cloning is a great idea but is also extra work and space. i do all three! some strains are only availible as clones and some as seed. anywho i hope that helped. 400w for flowering should be done in an area no bigger then 3' x 3' to maximise light/lumen effeciency. aloha

Actually its been proven that plants can only utilise 18hours of light, also that plants use the dark period to work on root development. But it all comes down to personal preferance i guess. Peace
