Tnx for the help azLooks like Ca def. Am I seeing Mg def on that finger pointing to the camera (out of focus)? Is that yellowing between the veins?
yea I got that to but I ph my tap water it went away with out me doing any thing to itI had similar issues early in my plants, turns out my tap water was 8.4ph. They actually grew quite nicely until they got bigger and then shit went weird so correction was required.
Ya I moved cities so it was never an issue for me but I went on the water report for my area and it was averaging over 8.2 so I bought some decent digital meters for PPM and PH, Phd to 6.7 added what I use for feed and they're growing WAAAY better.I have never checked water ph. Maybe I should. I live in an area known for natural occurring springs underground. I could possibly have high mineral content. The water also kinda tastes like Dasani, which is mineral water.
I could switch to bottled water I guess
Phd to 6.7 added what I use for feed and ....
Yes based on recommendation and it usually drops to 6.5 after I mix a 5 gallon pail. Using Botanicare Pro and growing in Pro-Mix with perlite and some Sea Soil mixed in, getting a baseline was my main goal. I'm planning on hydro grow next so it doesn't hurt to get used to things involved right. You pH'ed before adding nutrients, not after?
I don't think the pH of the starting water matters. And, I don't even pH my nutrients. (But, I would urge people to try that on a single plant before taking that as a rule. It could depend on how strong they feed, how many bottles of things they use, etc.).
getting a baseline in soil and switching to hydro isn't going to work. hydro grows are handled a little differently and you can't really use soil nute levels and pH for a hydro grow. if you're going to use hydro, you'll need a ppm meter so you know how much fert is in the water at any time. If you wanted to try something kind of cool, just use perlite. use perlite like it's soil, filling the grow pot with perlite. this way you're more hydro than soil, but can probably use soil grower's understanding of how to fert the plants. the reason for this is because the water/nute mix will stay in the perlite for a while. not as long as soil, but it will stay for a time. people have had successful grows using perlite like a soil. research youtube videos for this.
