ok im using a 60watt cfl curly, and now im being told its actually only 13watts im confused and getting very frustrated.

don't worry dude, the cfls are just to save energy, they output the same lumens and k's, you're safe.

With a single 13w cfl you may as well just light a candle. For a single plant you need a minimum of 150w actual of cfls. Four 42w make a good start with three of them being 6500k and one 2700k.

agreed, you might as well just use a flashlight LOL, j/p but yeah, you need more light if u want more than 2 bowls dried when all is said and done. i used 18-20 42w(2700 lumens a piece) for 4 sq ft. thats 13,500 lumens a square foot, you should shoot for at least 8,000 per foot but i'd personally never go below 10,000 if possible.

im using a standard pc grow box i dont have massive room for light sockets,i believe i can fit 2 more tops in there.what you think?

i think you should buy 3 y-splitters. then u can have 6 bulbs in there, 6 42w 6500k for veg and 6 42w 2700k for flower is my reccomendation.

I agree that's the kind of light you want but remember it will cause heat in that box. That's the problem with any stealth box, you have to take strong measures (eg lots of AC) to control heat.

I have nine CFL's on one plant. Different wattages, and kelvin spectrums. Using splitters is almost a must.

i had no idea i can get a Y splitter. i take if you can get them at home depot, rona, home hardware? maybe walmart? i currently have 3 bulbs on my 1 plants, 2 42w (150w replacement) 6700k bulbs, and 1 19W (100 ) replacement 2700k on, and my plant is growing great! im on my 3rd week of Veg.
