Let's talk fertilizer....

Hi all,

Was at the local nursery today and noticed they sell both fish fertilizer and seaweed fertilizer. They also sell a combination of the two. So it got me thinking, what's the difference between the two? Is one any better than the other? Thanks!

they work well but you must know that both these fertilizers are high in salt content and you must leech the salts out once in a while or things will get screwy. kelp fertilizers are great for young plants, just like worm castings

Ah I see, thanks. So is there any advantage for one over the other?

They are simply different sources for the same macro nutrient. Just like there amino acids present in different types of protein, however some proteins are better than others. My philosophy is to provide plants with as much variety as possible. I use 3 different veg fertelizer simulataneously when i think plants need an extra bump of Nitrogen, bio grow fish and sea weed extracts just 1/3 of each. Still though its best to add all the food in the soil, blood meal and hummus are to complete total shit. IMO EVERYONE should have a worm farm at home, whatever size. there is NOTHING like homemade hummus from old cannabis leaves people! NOTHING!
