8 Gavita 6/750 Flex lamps with a sealed room with minisplit a.c. and commercial grade dehuey with co2 hooked to a ppm contoller. Wall mount fans. And 3 gallon cloth pots of coco coir/perlite blend and another couple drain to waste tanks feeding Grodan Unislabs/4" inch blocks with Floraflex caps. All drip to waste using tubing and barbed fittings for a simple drip manifold. All lights/pumps/night heaters hooked to Autopilot master digital multi parameter timer. This run using Canna Coco nutrient for the coco pots side (2x 35 gallon trash can reservoirs) and Canna Substra for the rockwool slabs side with the other 2 35 gallon reservoirs. Tanks are outside the room in front of the main door to stay nice and cool in a Michigan 7 ft basement.
That's an nice setup, the real deal. I bet it's way easier to get things dialed in when using digital relays instead of have to doing everything manual. I need to do an upgrade, i feel like a little boy with his cap in he's hands when i hear about those setups. I'll get there one day. But you still feel a joy looking at the plants, dialing them in and getting them in position even most of the things being taken care of by electronic devices?
I would think you can grow a better product and then also feeling more satisfied as you can give the plants exactly what they need.

Looking good man
Thanks you Spud! :joint:

Very nice, great looking canopy
Thanks. I hope i can get some height on it, then it's going to look great harvest time.

If you got to do a little more manual work with your 4 Sixers to get that kind of canopy...so what. You know what your doing. That canopy is beautiful. The only reason I went heavy on the automation is because when I used to run 4 sixers...I was torn between staying home alot because it wasn't quite so heavily automated as the system I got now..but I kinda had to be gone from the house often...so when I gave that system to my cousin..I made damn sure that when I designed & upgraded to this system...I wanted automation on just about everything I could. I still have quite a bit of work. Especially in early veg with net trellis setup and canopy managemnet/bottom branch strip. And of course harvest time where we all have to get our busiest. And I still have a water wand/pump/tank for doing manual emergency salt buildup flushes and whatnot. And for applying additives and supplements weekly and separate from main tanks (enzymes and hormone additives don't like sitting in the main tanks for any period of time - they are best applied fresh). But basically...when I planned this room a few years back...I envisioned one big 2 or 3 month microwave. After that time.."ding"...and pull the plants out. Lol. The big commercial type high tech greenhouses and huge 100 or 200 lighter warehouse growing ops have to automate everything they can..even with multiple workers. Just no way around it because of the scale. If any of you are familiar with those big Dutch aluminum roller bench trays with inserts ...these are just amazing. It's these HUGE long (real long - like a hundred feet long) table benches they can set pots or rockwool on and cram them all together for maximum overhead light array overlap. And with one finger they can push them any direction to create the alley ways they need for plant canopy access in the middle of these HUGE warehouses or greenhouses. These tables have a genius roller/ball bearing type mechanism that's designed in the frames. They been around for decades in the straight ag /tulip flower world in Holland. And I remember Worms WAY/Hydrofarm garden hydro stores and distributors actually advertised the small ones in 2 page ads in the early editions of the magazines High Times and Growing Edge (a wonderful now defunct trade mag that was out in the late eighties/ early nineties.) I always thought those Dutch roller benches were genius but they never caught on with the cannabis world until very recently with the advent of looming legalization.

I dont mind spending time with plants, thats the best part with growing cannabis ( and ofcourse free weed ).
As long as i learn something new or can get it little better every time im feeling satisfied. Yes, i feel pretty secure growing, but there is alot i could tune in to get that perfect crop. I always want to to become better, and to become better at something you need to observe and be critical to yourself. If you accept and settle with something, you wont get better.
With an digital adjuster for ph, rh%, temperature etc i know my plants would look and grow even better, but thats just fine-tuning. But just like you said, with a fully automatic system there is free time to have a life aswell as you are not glued to the green-room.
I just googled those roller benches, i got some pictures coming up there and those are very smart and practical built and i totally understand their function. Even with the size of my room i have problems getting to the center and back. Do i have to say i visualised my plants beeing grown in a big place like one of those greenhouses, i almost fall of the sofa, Lol. You definitely seems to know a thing or two about growing cannabis, and i really like to talk with people who share my interest. Well, on the other hand i think the whole forum is sharing my interest about cannabis :bigjoint: If you dont mind, please feel free to give a tip or two or if there is any details i missed, i want to do the best grow possible and there is always things that could be done better.

Been fucking with Auto's for two years, my largest single plant auto yield so far is 6 zips from a Freebie Narcotic Kush bean. I'm averaging 3-4 zips per plant depending on strain with the mephisto beans I've grown so far. Not bad for on average 60-65 days from sprout/seed.

Sheldon you're killing it with the even canopy really good job man congrats this is looking like a great run for you
You knw, I've grew out a few of the Mephistos gear. Took part of 2 or 3 comparison grows. Grew out the Heisenberg, which I'd have to say turned out great! The other one on the other hand didn' do squat! It was the Skywalker I believe. I also ran the Sour Livers, but wasn' able to finish her out due to illness in my family at the time.

I have been doing this on the tightest budget possible... I'm donating plasma to get the stuff to make this happen for me... I'm not sure how well this will turn out but it's really a learning experience for me... just got a new job and now I can turn up!!! All i really need is a more efficient light and some better nutes, poss poss a couple of books to read up on and I should be good...in the meantime,I'll make do with what I have and do the best I can!!! I would be lost if I never had found this site!!!
Well, all I can say is good luck, and if you ever need any help, feel free and holler at me. I just recently purchased myself a new LED system. It's a 2,000 watt Morsen. I had to when I seen the price! I thgt at 1st it wouldn' do as advertised, and or it wouldn' put out no where near 2,000 watts. I have to say is was wrong. Knock on wood (head) it' been doing great, and my ladies absolutely love it!!

I tried to see how much these girls could handle and i went little over, but to know you have to push the limits. At this stage according to my meter its an EC of 1.85.
A light meter i dont have or else i would have shared those measurments aswell.
I have backed off now and will let the girls grow naturally for the rest of the grow.

Cannabis is a common c3 plant. A dioecious annual is what makes it sort of unique but still a common c3 plant. This means among other things that cannabis assimilates most (up to 80%) of its mineral nutrients (ESPECIALLY NITRATES/ NITROGEN ) during it's early and vegetative growth cycle. You can really hammer them with high feeds (to a point) while still in veg. And can actually back off on EC strength in flower. They don't need much in flower and will use all the minerals they took in in veg during the fruitification (flowering) process. Contrary to what alot of growers believe...you can feed lower EC (but make sure the overall base minerals are still a balanced feed) if you did everything right in veg and chances are..your plant will grow superb. Getting them nice and perfectly healthy (that deep green healthy not sickly green - there is a difference) in veg will behoove a grower later in flowering. Ive been saying this for years now...the early and vegetative period of a cannabis plant is EVERYTHING. It also why you can cut back in nitrogen (they still need some) in flower. First off they have plenty stored from the veg period if you vegged them correctly...and second...it takes a c3 plant a tremendous amount of energy (sometimes up to 30% overall) just to assimilate the nitrates. This is energy that could be used or spent producing more flower.

Looking totally sweet @SheldonCooper ! Now THAT is gonna be a big pile at the end compared to my puny plants *lol*
Thanks cjsbabygirl. Yes, it's gonna be a pile, but i bet me and my family will smoke it all during the summer, if I'm lucky we might have something left for the autumn :bigjoint:
This is not my first grow, and you are doing great :hump:

Yes, I feel what you mean, exactly. I'm kind of in the learning-process of how much and how quickly i can raise to get that good green. But also I'm playing with the lights to see how much this strain can handle. And I definitely agree with you, early veg is very important, that is the time you are laying the foundation of how your girl will look like in the end, at least when it comes to autoflowers. Get it right from start and you are golden.
I backed of my lights a bit to encourage little stretch and to keep the health of their leafs as they need those later in flower. The Base feed I'm using is lacking some phosphorus so i might have to start give some extra of that but I've heard giving bloom-nutes to early could make them start flower faster. And I need some stretch :blsmoke:

Thanks for sharing, pick up every bit of info there is to become better.

Do you keep a diary or something?
