STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS!!!

Governor Schwarzenegger: Stand Up For Patients' Rights!
Call on the Governor to Defend California's Medical Marijuana Laws!

Over the past several years, President Bush's Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has victimized patients and providers throughout California, undermining state law and stooping to new levels to shut down access for sick and dying patients in California. We must put an end to the attack on patients and providers!

Americans for Safe Access (ASA) has launched a pressure campaign, calling on Governor Schwarzenegger to "Stand Up for Patients' Rights: Defend California's Medical Marijuana Laws."

We are calling on Governor Schwarzenegger to defend the rights of medical cannabis patients and caregivers and the will of the voters in California by standing up to the Bush Administration. We are urging him to take a stand against federal medical cannabis enforcement and to support efforts to harmonize federal law with the compassionate laws of California and the eleven other states that allow medical cannabis use.

ASA's new campaign consists of statewide call in days, legislative visits from constituents and lobbyists, and sign-on letters from key public officials and organizations. This pressure will build up to a mass mobilization on Thursday, October 11th, to Governor Schwarzenegger's office in Los Angeles.

The only way this campaign will be successful is if people like you take action to protect California's patients, providers, and medical marijuana laws! Please read on for ways to get involved.

What You Can Do:

In order to pressure the governor to stand up for patients' rights, ASA has come up with 4 easy ways to take action!

1. Stand Up for Patients' Rights: Statewide Mobilization to the Governor's Los Angeles Office on Thursday, October 11th

On Thursday, October 11, 2007, ASA is calling on medical cannabis supporters to join us in a statewide mobilization to the Governor’s office in Los Angeles.

What: Stand Up for Patients' Rights Rally
When: Thursday, October 11, 2007, starting at 12:00pm.
Where: Governor Schwarzenegger's Los Angeles District Office
300 South Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013
Why: Governor Schwarzenegger needs to know that patients are being attacked and need their rights protected!

For more information on the rally and/or to volunteer to help organize the rally, contact [email protected].

2. Call Governor Schwarzenegger's Office and Demand that He Stand Up for Patients' Rights!

Call the governor's headquarters today to urge him to stand up for patients' rights by calling on the Bush administration to end the DEA raids on state-sanctioned patients and providers.

The Governor's Headquarters in Sacramento: 916-445-2841

Phone Script:

"Hello, my name is __Insert Your Name__ and I live in __Insert Your City__ in California. Thousands of California medical marijuana patients depend on safe access to medicine to treat the chronic and terminal disease symptoms. The federal government has taken serious actions to raid, arrest, and prosecute hundreds of patients and providers, publicly stating that they will not recognize the validity of our law.

On Thursday, October 11, we are gathering at your office in Los Angeles, I urge you to join us on that day to stand up for patients’ rights. I also urge you to defend California's laws and call on the Bush Administration to end the attack on patients and providers. Please let me know what you plan to do."

Please let ASA know you've called the governor by e-mailing [email protected].

3. Click Here to E-mail the Governor. Ask Him to Defend California's Medical Marijuana Laws and Call on the Bush Administration to End the War on Patients.
Visit ASA's online action center to take immediate action and send an e-mail to the governor.

4. Spread the Word! Download and Distribute!

Download and distribute the following materials in your community to get the word out about the Governor Schwarzenegger: Stand Up For Patients Rights campaign! Distribute ASA's poster and flyer in local shops, cafes, dispensaries, and other community gathering places to get others to take action.

The only way we can win this campaign is strength in numbers. That means, the more people we get involved and distribute these posters and flyers to, the more powerful we are.

Download ASA's poster about the protest and post in your community.

So i skimmed the first post and the article keeps repeating the mantra "stand up for patients". they're urging the terminator to do so but how? they just say stand up for patients rights. what do they suggest he do?

don't get me wrong. i'm all for mmj and protecting the sick but what can arnold do specifically to "stand up for pateints' rights". I mean he could give a speech saying he supports it but other than that....what? Do you think the dea will care? or stop? no. Other than the speech there's really nothing he can do(that the average citizan can't) to stop the federal actions or policies.

I think that the real problem is that the states of America are not actually as united as they sound and there so many different rules and laws from state to state not to mention the fact that state law is then superseded by Washington whenever they feel like it.

How can it be the united states when your obviously ununited and totally divided over everything from a game of cards around a table with a few drinks being a felony in one state to smoking up some weed being almost legal in another.

Seems to me that you are in the USA yes the Ununited State of Confused America:-?

LMAO. I dont doubt what you said one bit at all...I completely agree that the politicians loves money more than its people. That is the reason why the FDA has so many pharmacological companies that provides lobbying money to get their "safe drugs" approve. Like Vioxx, Viagra...etc. Fucking drugs are more dangerous to yourself than getting you better. So they do not want to approve a plant that the people can grow, and feel better everyday. Why would they say it is OK, when they are making billions of donations from the Pharmaceutical Corporations? All we are asking the "governator" is to tell the DEA to stop harrasing dispensaries where senior citizens that are sick can get their favorite drug instead of drink their pills that makes them vomit, dizzy, lay down on the couch all day meds...etc. The seniors I've met at dispensaries, and believe me, they are OLD !!! I mean in their 70's, 80's, needing marijuana to use for cooking since they dont like to smoke it. The DEA needs to back off, and that is all we are asking the Governator, to tell the DEA to not mess with dispensaries, and look for the other dangerous drugs instead....DOH marijuana is an easy bust in California because it is legal...DEA, FDA are so lazy to go after the drugs that actually, and truly dangerous. Crystal Meth.

By the way, the protest rally infront of the governator's Office in LA, was a success. Almost 200 people showed up, local city council people came out to support the MMJ rally. It was nice, but the DEA busted, and raided the dispensary that held the after the rally party, and STOLE all of the marijuana, AND THE CASH !!! fucking hoodlums.
