Ok so i was checkin out a rolling stone list of the top 100 guitarists ever (link below)

http://www.hotguitarist.com/guitar_artists/guitar_players.htm

and i just feel like this list is totally flawed...first of all Hendrix #1 really?...he is an amazing guitarist and innovator but i really think #1 is a little high...and also no mention of Slash? really?...and also how the fuck are Eddie Van Halen and Pete Townsend 70 and 50 WTF...but yet Cobain is 12 i just dont get it i mean yeah Cobain was an amazing musician and songwriter but 12 i dont think so...no mention of Synyster Gates from sevenfold i mean hes gotta be in the top 20 at least...and Wheres Satriani? i mean the dude tought kirk hammond and Steve Vai how to play...and why the fuck is angus young even on this list? dont get me wrong i like AC/DC but he plays the same chords in almost every song...Tony Iommi #86...the dude pioneered the metal sound and yes randy rhodes should be higher than iommi but they should both be up there alot higher...and Neil Young...i dont think so:wall:...let me know what yalls opinions are on this and i thought maybe we could come up with a RIU list of top guitarists...PEACE OUT :bigjoint::leaf::weed:

Oh dude hell yeah. You dont have to be from the generation to love their music. im only 19, and ive listened to them from birth.

The very first song i listened to in my life was stairway to heaven, says my mom. i love em.

I dunno man, I think the problem with any list like this one is that a lot of the time it just comes down to personal preferance.
Your #1 rated guitarist will most deffinately be different to mine.....

Here are some of my prefered guitarists though, in no particular order. And not necessarily because of their band, more because of their actual ability.

Brian May
Zakk Wylde (I think, the guy that played for Ozzy, that had the bullseye gat)
Kirk Hammett (I know not many will agree, but this guy is fucking talented)
Randy Rhodes ofcourse
Hendrix
Adam Jones (I'm a pretty big fan of Tool)
Dimebag Darrell (RIP)

And there are many more.

And I'm not sure if I agree with you about Angus Young, I think he deserves to be up there.
Niel Young, I agree with you.

Like I said, it's pretty personal, as favourites will vary, even with ability involved, you for example don't think Angus Young deserves that spot, but I do..........It's a hard one.

Jimmy Paige for sure.

John Lennon????

Sting, I think Sting is an incredible musician, I'm not much of a fan of his bands music though.
Greg Tribbett is awesome aswell (Mudvayne)

I dunno, will think of more soon.

Rolling Stone has always been a croc of shit though, I base nothing on what they say. The mag has been taken over by a new generation of rockers, the rock genre has en ambushed with fucking Emo's and Punk wanna be's it's sad. That's my reasoning behid it anyway. The Rolling Stones mag isn't half of what it used to be!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Jonny Cash, I'm not a big fan of country music but man was this guy talented!

And I'm gonna say "The guitarists from Iron Maiden" I mean, they've got like fucking 4 of them! I dunno which one is the better one. I don't even know all of their names! But they're good!

Noone gonna say Santana?? The dude was pretty revolutionary in his time. I'm gonna say it then "Sanatana"!!!! Hahaha

Dave Grohl is My Hero!!! lol
Don't get me wrong, Dave Grohl is fucking amazing, you seen him live?!!? Incredible!
It's a shame that he can't hit those high notes anymore though, or scream his tits off like he used to........I guess that, that is why they've become a little more mellow nowaday's.

Fuck it! I gotta stop posting on here an study for my Marketing exam tonight! I hate marketing!

I just clicked about the "My Hero" part hahaha
