Legalise Marijuana and help save the economy.

Increasing economical downturn is affecting most countries in the world, three of these, The UK, US and Australia have a very high proportion of weed smokers yet it is illegal even though alcohol related problems far far outweigh the negativity of smoking pot.

Now if it was controlled and taxed appropriately, following guidelines and laws already in place for alcohol and obviously altering them lightly then surely legalising it would give the economies a biig boost and move the money into the main market and take it out of the black market.

Marijauana is seen as a gateway drug wrongly, its only usually the case when bad dealers dont have any or want to push other stuff, this would take out the dealers from that equation, Also as Marijuana is hemp related surely a secondary business could come from the wasted fibres after buds are trimmed and cured thus boosting economies a bit more as well as reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere whilst its growing in nice big fields.

Just a thought I had, I may be worng, I may be right! discuss.

Why have the government control and tax it? Its a weed and a medicinal herb. It grows wild, its a natural substance and it belongs to the people. Let's leave the government out of the equation.

If legalizing marijuana means that the government has to control and tax it, then lets keep it illegal. Just me and my closet. :blsmoke:

The only thing they could tax is the retail sale of weed and seeds. The government would never be able to track down and tax home growers..... well sure... maybe some of the bigger outdoor crops... but not the onsie, twosie, tensie indoor plant grows like many of us do.

I'd be ok with paying sales tax on seeds and clones and retail weed.

They won't be able to tax it, or at least a bunch of it. Because everyone that could, will be growing it.

And it appears to be a Govt mandate that the public can not have anything without taxation.

Except maybe unprotected sex.

At least until they develope the 'scanner and bar code' implanted at birth to automatically withdraw tax from accounts. Then you be paying by the stroke.

(yes, I know that is a wild conspiracy theory)

I totally agree with you bongsmilie

I do not understand this mentality. The only way they would be able to tax you is in the retail sale of weed, seeds & clones. They could never come after small home growers for taxation; it would be completely on the honor system... we simply don't employ that many IRS agents (thank god). Think about it.... there are over 300 [EDIT] MILLION [/EDIT]people in the US.... so figure on the LOW end.... 50 [EDIT] MILLION [/EDIT] households to audit for mj growing..... ROFLMFAO!!!!! That is just NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

People who home brew beer pay taxes on the supplies they buy... but they don't pay taxes on their home brew for personal use. It should be no different for mj.

Isn't paying $6 or $7 bucks per hundred dollar purchase better then facing prison when the DEA kicks in your door and hauls you off for growing 10 plants?

Sure... those that sell retail will have a lot of overhead so the price would be higher legally then it is now.... but again... so what? Those that don't want to pay can grow their own.... which is not always easy .... so the demand... no matter the price would be there to sustain the retail businesses.

Legalize it for all now... and let the government use the retail tax to help pay for this $700 billion dollar bail out (so we don't leave the debt to our grandchildren :( ). It's a completely new source of revenue! Sure the DEA might suffer some cutbacks (boo hoo) but I'm sure most could be absorbed into units going after heroine and crack; two drugs I'm pretty sure I'm ok with being illegal.

I don't know.... to me it's a no brainer.... LEGALIZE IT FOR ALL ADULTS!!!

My 2 cents :peace:

Don't want to be a stickler but, US population is 300 million, a little more maybe. But I get the idea.

LIke beer and wine, you can purchase it in the store or you can brew it at home (like I do). Not everyone will want to grow, or could for that matter, and wait until harvest. Sell it retail and allow the government some revenue, but also have it legal to grow as well. When I brew my beer, I pay tax on the ingredients, but not on the finished product.
